"Our kitchen remodel with McCormick Home Builders went beyond our expectations. Leoni and her team took the time to understand exactly what we wanted. The open layout design changed the way we use the space, and it’s been perfect for family gatherings. They were prompt, courteous, and genuinely invested in making sure we were happy. "We needed a new kitchen, since ours was seriously out dated. We have some ideas of what we wanted, but was hoping for some professional input. We hired Eli with Cal Green to do the job and had hoped we made the right decision. In the end we did. Eli was very knowledgeable, patient, and caring. He made the process go very smoothly and handled all the permits and dealings with the city, which was a relief for us. He took our ideas and included some of his and the kitchen came out great we are very pleased with everything. I would recommend Eli for any work you're considering for your home. For our next project we will definitely be using Eli and Cal green remodeling. Thank you so much Eli for a wonderful experience."

"I recently moved into my new home about a month ago and desperately needed the kitchen remodeled. Its a pretty old building but Moses (contractor) was very detailed with everything, from the cracks behind the shelves to the kitchen sink! Im completely in love with my new kitchen! Now its time to have my house warming party. Definitely would recommend to any home owner looking to jazz up the space"

Home Building questions, answered by experts

The primary reason homes have crawl spaces is so the foundation can reach down below the frost line to avoid dangerous soil movement and structural damage when the ground freezes. They’re more popular in colder climates where the ground freezes down to a few feet, and slabs are most popular in warmer areas where there is no frost line. Crawl spaces also provide a space for utility lines to run where they’re at less of a risk of freezing.

Renovating or remodeling an existing structure is usually less expensive than the cost to build a new house. That’s because you can save on the costs of new building materials, laying a foundation, framing the entire building, and installing new materials and utilities throughout the house. However, if a home is in very poor condition or is incredibly old, you could spend more on upgrades and restoration compared to building from scratch.

A contractor can install your shipping container home in as little as 90 days. This is notably quick compared to a traditional home build, which can take more than a year (providing there aren’t permitting or construction delays that make the wait even longer). For the quickest installation, choose a prefab container home.

Typically, architects do not build homes in a hands-on sense of doing the actual framing, roofing, or other building. Architects usually do not have the training and experience to build the homes they design. An architect would need to know how to do the specific trades required to build a house, which is possible but not a common practice. A general contractor or homebuilder typically oversees the actual details of building the house that the architect designs.

Custom homes can take an average of 18 months to build, mainly due to the lengthy design process, and most projects take somewhere between 12 and 24 months. When you work with the right custom home builders near you, they can help you map the road ahead and understand what can speed up or delay the timeline. Choosing locally available materials, for example, can speed things up without losing that customized touch.
