"Billy responded to my inquiry immediately. He came to our house, gave me an estimate, which i accepted and set a date for the work. He and his crew came when they said they would, worked very efficiently, are very friendly people, made sure none of our property was damaged by the cement truck, and completed the job in a very professional manner. They are courteous and safety conscious, and just a bunch of great guys. I would recommend them to anyone without reservation. Any additional concrete work we need, we will absolutely call them!!"

"A -PAC was not too eager to do the job. They never called back after I discussed my chimney problem with Bob. Another company did the repair and did a wonderful job using 4 helical piers stabilizing and jacking the chimney up to it's original position. I would strongly recommend that you include this company in your list of foundation contractors."

"We did get several estimates and felt his price was in line with others we talked to. His work was well done and he was a considerate contractor trying his best to keep the mess down which is difficult to do when installing and finishing drywall. Overall it did take a bit longer than he expected but he worked around our schedule so we have no complaints at all. Our ceilings look great and we would hire him again in a heartbeat."

"Leo, is the head guy and he is very easy to work with once he knows what you want done. He pays close attention on the ideas we had and made even better. We are very happy with what he is doing. The job is not done yet. The project was on the big side. But the quality of work he's doing is great."

Masonry questions, answered by experts

Yes, an outdoor fireplace should use fire bricks. Fire bricks are specially designed to withstand high levels of heat and thus won’t crack as easily as regular bricks when exposed to the intense heat inside a fireplace.

The exact cost of bricks depends on the type and size of the bricks you use for your project. Generally, standard clay bricks cost between $350 and $850 for a thousand bricks, or an average of $550. Brick veneer costs around the same for materials but is easier to install than solid bricks, so you’ll save on labor by choosing this option.

Removing paint from brick can have both aesthetic and practical value. Some people prefer the timeless look of bare brick, making it worthwhile to remove old paint layers. Brick also lasts longer when unpainted, as paint traps moisture, causing the brick to deteriorate more quickly. If your brick walls are already in bad shape, stripping the paint off might do more harm than good.

Yes, masonry is more expensive than concrete because the labor is much more involved. With masonry, your expert will build your project from the ground up, one piece at a time, ensuring they use the proper amount of mortar or grout during construction and keeping the project level or plumb. Pouring concrete can also be labor-intensive, but it’s a bit less involved. It requires building a mold, pouring the concrete, and letting it cure. The less intensive labor makes concrete a more affordable option in most cases.

No, it’s not recommended to attach shutters to brick without drilling. Brick is dense and built to last, so adhesives and shortcut methods don’t usually cut it. Even heavy-duty glue struggles to hold up over time—especially against wind, moisture, and temperature changes. Most no-drill options are made for materials like vinyl or wood, not solid masonry. Skipping the drill might seem easier, but it puts your shutters—and anything below them—at risk. For a secure, lasting install, drilling is the way to go. It takes more effort up front, but the result is safer and more reliable.
