"I am pleased with their work. Just a couple of things to note. A missed tile replacement. I did tell them not to worry about after everything was done, I just wanted to get my house in order. I noticed the tiles they replaced around the toilet are set higher than the rest."

"Regal Bath and Kitchens recently remodeled my hall bathroom. They installed new tile flooring, removed the tub and installed a shower, new toilet. vanity, light fixtures etc. I am VERY pleased with the work and my bathroom is beautiful! The Regal crew (Chris and Eric) completed the work on time and were highly skilled and experienced installers. I originally got bids from other contractors but their bids were either too high or their products were poor quality. Some were very unprofessional in their sales approach. I was sold on using Regal after talking to Jennifer and Rich, both of whom are detail oriented, experienced professionals. They were able to offer me reasonable options to stay within my budget. I was also very impressed by their showroom and the high quality and beautiful product choices available. I highly recommend Regal and have asked them to now remodel my master bath. Give them a call. You won’t be disappointed! Rich and Jennifer at Regal will make it an easy process for you to plan and complete a remodel."

"I had a leak around my master toilet. Water was coming down out of the ceiling in the room below. I called and Al personally answered the phone. He and his son (it is a family business) were here less than 2 hours later and had everything fixed up within 2 hours after that. Al is clearly knowledgeable. He is also personable and charming. I have more work that needs to be done and will be hiring him again for that."

"I initially purchased the plumbing service for $39. I had 2 toilets that were slightly running (I did a dye test and it showed that the water from tank and bowl were leaking into each other constantly at a small rate. The tech looked at the first toilet, and after a while told me that I needed a new toilet because he could not locate the problem, which meant there must be a crack in the porcelain. He arrived the next day with a brand of toilet I have never heard of. He installed the toilet and put the old one on the curb. Then he took a look at the 2nd toilet and began telling me that this toilet needed to be replaced as well. I became a bit apprehensive because a handyman friend of mine told me that he thought I most likely did NOT need a new toilet-that it is actually very rare for someone to need to replace a toilet because of a light "running" problem. I also told the tech that this toilet was much newer and being in the Master bath, was used a lot less. He "messed around" with it some more, and told me he would come back the next day and take another look. The next day he tried to call me, but my phone was off. He showed up later in the day at the appointed time with some toilet parts, and told me that he had called earlier in the day to see if I wanted the new toilet that was a "really good deal and was on sale that day. Long story, short, he found the problem was in the water tank and he replaced a rubber part and it was fixed. Of course between this, my friend's words I wondered if maybe I really didn't need the expense of the new toilet...
The tech was very nice, spent a lot of time going and coming. The time he spent and returns he made would have been astronomical with most other plumbers, and so I appreciated that. Whether I really needed a new toilet, or what brand this toilet is and why it didn't come with any sort of "manual" or warranty is a bit scary...The $39 deal became a $340.00 experience-the 2 toilets do not run....but at an honest expense? Not sure.

Toilets questions, answered by experts

DIY is possible for minor repairs or replacements. Professional services ensure proper installation and leak prevention.

Many parts of your plumbing system can fail, but clogged drains are one of the biggest plumbing problems you’ll likely encounter. From your kitchen sink, bathroom sink, or bathtub, there are plenty of opportunities for gunk, hair, food scraps, and more to get stuck in drains. When this happens, water will slowly drain, leading to standing water, bad odors, drain flies, and other issues.

Many homeowners can handle a minor clog themselves, but if you have a clog in your main line, you’re best off hiring a local plumber to get the drain back to its normal flow rate.

The average cost to replace a toilet seal ring is around $50 to $200 if you hire a pro to do the job. If you do it yourself, you’ll only need to pay for the supplies. Wax rings alone cost anywhere from $5 to $25 at hardware stores and can save you a lot of money compared to having a professional installation. At the same time, a licensed plumber knows how to properly install your new wax ring to prevent premature issues down the line.

Sealant doesn’t need to be applied to the bolts, but it can be a good way to stop an active leak in the moment. However, don’t rely on it as a cure-all; instead, make sure to fix the problem at the source by changing or tightening the bolts.

If you do use sealant, make sure to spread it thickly and evenly across the bolts and the tank's porcelain.

Basement toilets don’t always need a pump. However, it is the most common setup because plumbing systems use gravity to move waste away from the home. Basement toilets often sit below the home’s main sewage system, and installing a sewage ejector pump pushes the wastewater and sewage up to the main sewer line. Alternatively, you can use an upflush or macerator toilet that breaks down the waste and pushes it straight to the main sewer line rather than via a sewer line from the bathroom.
