"Al called ahead and was on time. My request was to resolve the immediate need. He evaluated the situation and recommended a course of action given the age of the house and cast iron pipes. He rootered the pipe under the sink to resolve the slow draining kitchen sink. He pulled the toilet, removed the oleander roots, took a look at the pipe with a camera, and reset it with a waxless seal. He shared maintenance tips and recommended future improvements for a long term solution which I will apply in the future."

"Pavel is always punctual and is very quick and professional with his work.  He is careful and cleans up beautifully---I wish my cleaning help could get the bathtub as sparkling clean as he left it!
I appreciate being given options, particularly in an older house where total modernization may involve a costly remodel.  At all times I feel that Pavel is aware of the appropriate City and County codes (most did not exist when this house was built) so that upon resale, we are not going to have to re-do work to meet inspection standards.
I also appreciate that in scheduling he is mindful of approximately how long a job might take so that we are able to plan other activities around his work schedule.
We are relatively new to the central Phoenix area, so had no tradesmen to call upon when we bought a house that needed some serious plumbing and electrical work.  I am grateful to have found American Discount Plumbing, and would recommend them highly."

Drain Cleaning questions, answered by experts

It’s possible to snake minor drain clogs yourself, provided they sit within a foot or two of the drain itself, but it’s usually best to hire a professional plumber regardless. Even experienced DIYers have a high chance of accidentally pushing the clog further into the drain using a drain snake or another tool, so hiring a plumber is the ideal course of action. A professional plumber can use camera equipment to locate and identify the clog, and remove the entire blockage to fix your issue permanently.

Yes, you can pour water down the toilet to help it flush. For each flush, you’ll need 1 to 2 gallons of water for newer toilets or 3 to 5 gallons of water for older toilets. Rather than dumping the entire bucket in all at once, pour the water in slowly for the best results. If you’re pouring water down the toilet to help it flush after a clog, only use 1 gallon of hot water.

DIY plunging or drain cleaning chemicals may help minor clogs, but professional hydro jetting ensures long-term solutions.

Once you’ve poured the baking soda and vinegar into a drain, you should wait about 10 minutes for the mixture to break down the clog. If you try the baking soda and vinegar method and it doesn't work, you can do it again or try the baking soda and salt trick.

It’s sometimes difficult to distinguish a clog from a frozen drainpipe since ice technically causes a clog. If the temperature doesn’t tip you off, there are a few additional signs that your pipe is frozen. Look for condensation and frost around the pipes. Ice in pipes can cause a banging or clanking noise as opposed to a clog from a softer material.
