"Great job mounting my lights. Helped remove an old solid wood 70’s box light. Had some issues getting the living ceiling fan installed. My previous fan had one switch for the fan and one for the light. I guess the wiring is old and incompatible with this new fancy fan. So now one light switch turns the fan and light on and the other switch that controled the old fan does nothing. Thankfully the fan can with a remote control so I use that to turn the fan on and off and it works just fine as a work around. I am very happy with the service provided and will use them again."

"When what was suppose to have been an easy DIY project of installing LED lighting in my daughter's bedroom became a nightmare, I called Pur Solar and Nick was sent out to do an initial evaluation. He was honest and efficient in not only fixing what we had tried doing, but explaining why our DIY project did not work out. He expertly installed new LED lighting and it looks great! Communication on the office staff was wonderful and they always took the time to answer all of my questions. If we have any other electrical needs, I know who I will be calling :)"

"Frankie called to schedule the appointment and were even willing to come out the same day. Scheduled for the next day. Andy showed up on time was very friendly, explained everything through the process and was very efficient. I would highly recommend. They installed 4 fans and 2 lights. Generator Install questions, answered by experts

The average cost to install a home generator is $5,200, but total costs can range from $500 to $18,000 or more. The final price depends on several factors, including the generator's size, type, brand, fuel source, and the cost of labor and assembly. The generator's size is the most significant cost factor, as units that can power larger homes with higher energy demands cost more.

Cost breakdowns by generator type are typically as follows:

  • Portable or Emergency Backup Generators (1kW–7.5kW): $500–$2,000

  • Partial-Home Generators (9kW–20kW): $2,000–$6,500

  • Whole-House Generators (22kW–48kW): $5,000–$18,000

To ensure you get the right size unit for your needs without overpaying, consider hiring an electrician to calculate the electrical load of your essential appliances. It is also recommended to get at least three quotes from qualified installers to find the best fit for your budget.

Yes, in most municipalities, you will need a permit to install a permanent home generator, including emergency backup, partial-home, and whole-home models. Because these installations involve significant alterations to your home's electrical system and produce exhaust fumes, local governments often require a permit or inspection for safety purposes. A generator permit typically costs between $50 and $250, depending on your location. Your electrician or certified installer can usually handle the permitting process for you, but you will be responsible for the cost. It's a good practice to confirm with your installer that they will pull all necessary permits before work begins.

Most homeowners won't be able to claim a home generator as a tax write-off. However, a whole-house generator may be tax-deductible in certain situations depending on its purpose. For instance, if it's needed to power essential medical equipment, it may qualify as a medical expense deduction. Also, in some cases, businesses can deduct a generator as a business expense if it supports operations. Always consult a tax professional to determine eligibility based on your specific circumstances and the applicable IRS regulations.

An undersized whole-house generator has the potential to overheat and shut down when you try to run a central AC system. This scenario can not only damage the whole-house generator, but can also trip your home’s breakers or cause electrical damage. To avoid this situation, hire a local generator installer to correctly size your whole-house generator.

Costs range from $500 to $2,500, depending on generator type and installation complexity.
