"We highly recommend Domar Painting, LLC. Domingo Martinez, Owner of Domar Painting was wonderful to work with. He responded immediately to our request for the proposal to paint our cabin in Overgaard, AZ. We had purchased 3 years ago, and had no idea if the cabin had ever been painted in the past. But we knew there was a lot of repair work that would need to be completed. We agreed to a contract price and dates for the work to be completed. Domingo and his team arrived on the day scheduled, on time and set to work by pressure washing the 2 story cabin. Then the first day ended by prepping, scraping, sanding and caulking what seemed like everything. They got two sides of the cabin completely prepped Day 1. Although the second day of work wasn't supposed to be a work day due to high sustained winds, two of the team members arrived and were able to complete the prep work and with that, on the third day, the painting began. We were thrilled as the age and disrepair disappeared and the beauty of the cabin we fell in love with was beginning to be revealed. We had chosen to match the existing paint (stain) color because of the metal roof color. Domingo did an excellent job there. With a team of 6, they completed the cabin and detached garage on Day 4. They returned on Day 5 to paint the doors and garage door. We took the entire team to lunch at the end of the job by way of a small Thank You for all of their hard work. We would be happy to recommend/refer Domar Painting, LLC to anyone needing a painting project completed. And we will certainly use them again when we complete the decking renovation. Thank you, Domingo and team for a superb job!! Jayna and Ron"

"All of the work was done as described and in a timely manner. Alvaro (president) explained the process and answered any questions we had. The crew was punctual, courteous and respectful of the property. Windows, doors and vigas were taped off, drop cloths were used where material would splatter. After the completion of the project everything was cleaned up and put back in place. The workmanship is outstanding and the house looks brand new."

"Nothing but a positive experience from Aaron Trail.  Very easy to communicate with.  Very prompt, kept all appointments.  The new paint looks amazing and just the colors we selected.  All stucco repairs that were made were blended so well, there is no way to tell where the original issues were!  I already have recommended them to friends and family, I will continue to do so.  Very happy with Aaron Trail!  "

"Jesus and his team extended our cement patio. The work was completed on time with excellence. He is detailed, careful, and does what he says he will do, including leaving the job site clean. I plan on calling him for more work in the future. One more thing, he has a tendency to do more than expected."

Deck Staining questions, answered by experts

Limewash and whitewash are two techniques used to give brick a light, matte finish, but they differ in composition, application, and permanence. The best choice depends on your aesthetic goals and the specific surface.

Composition

  • Limewash: A natural and environmentally friendly option made from limestone, water, and sometimes pigments. It is breathable and soaks into porous surfaces like brick.

  • Whitewash: Traditionally made from lime, water, chalk, and binders, but a similar look can be achieved with watered-down white paint. It is paint-based and sits on top of the surface.

Appearance and Finish

  • Limewash: Provides a natural, textured appearance that allows the brick's character to show through. It offers a more traditional finish.

  • Whitewash: Creates a softer, more opaque finish, often used for a rustic or shabby-chic style.

Application and Permanence

  • Limewash: Is semi-permanent and can be removed, making it a good choice if you might want to change the look in the future. It requires more skill to apply and cannot be used on previously painted brick.

  • Whitewash: Is a more permanent solution. It is more forgiving to apply and can be used on painted brick. However, because it sits on the surface, it can trap moisture.

Ultimately, if you want a breathable, natural, and reversible finish for unpainted brick, limewash is a great option. If you need a more permanent, opaque coating that can be applied over painted surfaces, whitewash is the better choice. Whitewashing may also be more economical, costing approximately $1.40 to $4.20 per square foot.

Many decking oils can help slow down algae growth, but they don't completely stop it. These oils work by sealing the wood, which reduces moisture and, therefore, algae growth. Some decking oils also help protect against UV damage, but they need to be reapplied according to the manufacturer’s instructions to ensure the decking stays protected.

The best time to paint your deck is when temperatures are neither too cold (below 60 degrees) nor too hot (above 85 degrees). Always paint your deck when there’s no risk of rain. For fast-drying paint like acrylic or latex, ensure your deck can dry for at least four hours. Oil-based paints take longer to dry and may require 48 hours to completely cure.

No, you don't need to stain Ipe decking, although you can if you want to change the color. You will, however, need to apply a UV coating if you don't want the natural color to fade. Speak to a deck staining specialist near you to discuss the best options if you want to stain your decking. And remember that you’ll need to seal your Ipe wood deck annually to protect it from scratches and Mother Nature.

A properly applied coat of stain will last between 3 and 8 years, depending on your climate. If you live in a place where your fence experiences a lot of moisture or high heat, your stain will last for a shorter period than in more temperate conditions. We recommend reapplying stain every 3 to 5 years to keep your wood in good condition.
