"Andy did a fantastic job on our wallpaper project. We had existing wallpaper in our guest room that needed to be removed and a new wallpaper to install. Andy was lovely to work with and was not only meticulous, but incredibly fast! I highly recommend his services."

"Ken was not able to make the originally scheduled appointment time but he called ahead to let me know of the situation and we successfully rescheduled with no problems. Ken was professional and provided a great service at a great price. I appreciated that he hauled away the old appliances and left no mess behind. Thank you KB Appliances!"

"Dave did a great job! There was a change in plans as far as the day he could come paint and he quickly communicated with me which I appreciated. He arrived on time and finished rather quickly. The room looks great!"

"Excellent service. Had to push start back a week, no issues there and was accommodated. The guys turned up when they said they would, they prepped everything properly, and did a fantastic job, even did a few knock down repairs that didn’t get finished before they started, no problems, just got on with it. Planning on the exterior repaint after the summer and these guys will be used"

"Dany was a pleasure to work with; his crew was very professional. Price was competitive and he does not cut corners (doors and hardware removed, clean, prime, sand, 2 coats of paint). Our kitchen cabinets look amazing. They took care to protect our home from dust and their work was meticulous. I would highly recommend this company!"

"Very honest, good worker, a perfectionist - I cannot say enough good about him! As well as wallpaper removal and painting, he was in charge of the contractors working on my property. I used him on many jobs I had as a designer. I have also spoken with other people who hired him and they were happy with him. Never any issue with him."

"We were beyond pleased with Alex's Painting. Their price was so favorable compared to the other estimates we got that we weren't sure what to expect, so to say we were pleasantly surprised would be an understatement. The quality of the painting job was outstanding (they cut clean lines, prepped and primed the surfaces properly, kept the paint off our woodwork and floors, left no trace of over-spray, and cleaned up thoroughly after themselves). As a bonus, the entire company was exceptionally easy to work with, from Patricia's prompt and friendly replies to all our inquiries to Juan's and Alex's punctuality and friendly professionalism. We were managing the paint job from two thousand miles away and they made it easy for us by updating us with pictures and texting whenever a question came up. They waited until we were back in town to walk through the job with us, and made sure we were happy with every detail. Exceptional experience all around."

"The initial response to my Angie's list big deal was prompt.  Sid came to my house to give me an estimate.  Originally he was going to remove wallpaper in 3 bathrooms.  When he saw the areas he kept saying he would do as much as he could then the rest would be more money.  The work was scheduled for early September.  When I contacted Sid in Sept. he was having problems with his truck but he did come on Saturday of that week to do the work.  He started in the master bathroom.  After a little more than 3 hours I checked in.  I was amazed to find only about 2.5 or 3 strips removed.  Sid looked stressed and the room was a mess.  I told him to stop for the day and we could reschedule the remaining hour and he gave me an estimate of $200 to complete the bathroom.  This was not a large area.  I had some difficulty in contacting Sid to schedule the rest of the work and I had to call Angies's List before I got a response from him.  Eventually he came back and removed the rest of the wallpaper.  This time it went smoothly and it took about 5hours.  I then said I did not want anymore paper removed and paid him $200.  This was a frustrating and disappointing experience.

"Nate and Ashley were so kind and professional! They got the work done in no time and didn’t leave a mess and even took the trash out! They truly left the place better than they found it! The pained wall looks great, no errors in their paint. The fans they installed were up and running in no time too! Great people!"

Wallpaper Removal questions, answered by experts

Limewash can be removed from brick, but the method of removal will depend on how long the limewash has been on the brick. If the limewash has fully dried—which happens after about five days—you’ll need to use a diluted muriatic acid mixture to remove it. If there are multiple coats of limewash, you may need to apply the acid mixture several times to fully remove it from the brick.

If you’re installing new wallpaper and have leftover glue, you can remove unused wallpaper paste from the bucket or pan it’s in by letting it dry. If it’s an oil-based paste, seal it in a plastic bag and throw it in the garbage. Otherwise, toss the leftover wallpaper paste in the trash. Although it’s water-soluble, don’t rinse unused wallpaper paste down the sink because it could dry in the pipes and cause a blockage.

Hiring a professional wallpaper hanger is usually a worthwhile idea because, while the application of wallpaper itself is easy, getting the finished product to look good is complicated and takes a lot of practice and patience. A professional wallpaper hanger will not only be able to hang your wallpaper seamlessly, but they will also get an even application of wallpaper paste to avoid bubbling and imperfections immediately and over time. Plus, they can provide their professional opinion on whether to remove or wallpaper over an existing layer of wallpaper.

One of the biggest downsides to peel-and-stick wallpaper is that it doesn't last as long as traditional wallpaper. Its lifespan depends on several factors, including the quality of the paper, proper wall preparation and application, and the room's conditions. As a general rule, peel-and-stick wallpaper can last for at least five years, but this can vary significantly. Budget products may only last about 3 years, while higher-quality products can stay up for 7 years or more in ideal conditions. Factors that can shorten its lifespan include high humidity (such as in a bathroom), dirty walls, and low-quality paper. If used on flooring, expect it to last only 1 to 3 years unless sealed. However, the shorter lifespan can be seen as a positive, making it a great choice for people who enjoy switching up their interiors more frequently.

While you can remove wallpaper yourself, it is a labor-intensive process that risks damaging your walls. Common DIY methods include using a steamer to loosen the adhesive or spraying the paper with a solution of hot water and vinegar or dish soap before scraping. However, steamers can cause irreparable damage if used incorrectly, and the spray-and-scrape method can harm drywall if it gets too wet or you scrape too aggressively. For these reasons, hiring a professional is often the fastest, easiest, and safest option. A pro has the experience and specialized tools to remove wallpaper efficiently without damaging the underlying surface, which saves time and minimizes the prep work needed for your next wall treatment.
