"The sales guy knew exactly what was needed . I compared prices and selected GGL. the best part was that another company wanted to know who put the skylights in , who was on the roof last and what warrantees i had. So much bullshit- it was a turn off - they lost my business. GO WITH GOGREEN DAYLIGHT!!"

"I needed to have a skylight replaced and contacted Energy Conservation Specialists. Everybody at ECS was professional from the scheduler to the estimator, Paul Rodriguez (who was also the owner,) , to the installer. I was dreading the whole thing because I didn't know who to contact or where to start, but the folks at ECS made it super easy. The whole process from scheduling to installation done in about a week, no hassle, no hidden costs. I would recommend ECS and I'm grateful to them for their great service."

"They were able to replace the skylight in less than 2 weeks after the quote. They did a good job and make the finish on the inside look good. A few weeks later, there was a heavy rain and my new skylight is no longer leaking like my old one that was replaced."

"They are responsive and professional. Contacted them on Monday morning concerning my leaking skylights; Peter Holden met with me on Monday afternoon to discuss my roof issues and started work on Tuesday morning; finishing on Wednesday evening. The total work included replacing my rain gutters. The work crew was respectful of my property and did a through job addressing the skylight issues. After the work was completed, they did a through job cleaning up. It's refreshing to deal with a contractor that cares about their work."

"Great service! Daniel and his crew were able to come over and repair the roof the same day. And it was the day before a holiday. I appreciated the photos of the work and the follow up call after the work was done. Great company."

"Our main installer was Jesus, and he carefully explained each step of the work and then went over all the information we would need to know. We are very happy with all three items, saving electricity with the SolaTube as we no longer have to turn lights on during the day in our Master bath dressing area, we hope that the Solar attic fan is helping to keep the house cooler by exchanging the air in the attic when it gets hot. In our small home office we replaced an old skylight with new double glass skylight with a shade system and this has made a big difference in the office. Sunshine Experts, LLC did a great job for us and we are very happy to recommend them when anyone asks us about our experience."

Skylights questions, answered by experts

Yes, you can cover up a skylight if you no longer wish to have it in your space. There are a few options for covering up a skylight. One option is to install a skylight cover or shade that can be easily opened or closed as needed, allowing you to control the amount of light entering the room. Another option is to cover the skylight with a solid material, such as plywood or drywall, effectively sealing it off. However, when covering a skylight, it's essential to ensure proper insulation and waterproofing to prevent any issues in the future.

Pros of installing a skylight include the fact that you will get much more natural light in your home, skylights can make your room look bigger than it actually is, and your home may increase in value. Cons include difficult upkeep (you may have to get on a ladder to clean and maintain them), higher installation costs, and, potentially, too much heat gain from all the extra sunlight.

Yes, solar tubes are easier to install than skylights because they’re lighter, smaller, and easier to handle. They also require less roof cutting and have a faster, simpler installation process. This means they’re a more DIY-friendly option for homeowners who want to add more natural light to their homes.

Roof windows and skylights can be installed on various roof materials, but skylights are usually the only option that you have if you have a flat roof or a roof with a slope under 15 degrees. In these cases, roof windows have too high of a risk of leaking to be suitable options. The specific installation requirements may vary, so it's important to hire a window replacement contractor. Certain types of roofs may not be ideal if they limit the size of the window or if they pose an issue with rainwater collecting around the area.

A skylight's ability to withstand hail depends on factors like material quality and thickness. Impact-resistant options, such as tempered or laminated glass, fare better against hail compared to standard glass. Proper installation and regular maintenance also contribute to their resilience. While smaller hailstones may not pose a significant threat, larger ones can cause damage. Consider skylight protection methods like covers or screens in hail-prone areas to enhance durability and minimize potential harm.
