They directed me to Home Depot and who to talk to there for my supplies. They are coming back to do the work next week. Although Garth had a medical issue and couldn’t be here, Andy was very capable. "This was an experiment for me in use of an interior designer online.  THe consultant was helpful in directing me to useful websites to review products and encouraged me to look widely and that was useful. Otherwise I found it difficult to use her services. The online aspect is one reason - looking at colors, e.g. wall colors and considering them for a particular space is difficult to do given than monitors and lighting change the look of things. Also, one cannot get the sense of e dimensional space from 2 dimensional tools
 In addition,  she was only allowed to advise me on one room and I have an open space that includes living, dining and kitchen areas, all of which had to be considered together. It was frustrating that she was not allowed to think about the other spaces when I had to think about all of them together.
The designer pushed me to choose a rug before choosing living room furniture but I preferred to choose the furniture first as it is more difficult to replace.  She was not able to be flexible on this account. Also, when I did not seem interested in buying through their service she seemed to loose interest.
It often took several days for the consultant to get back to me. That is the area where I most fault the individual as opposed to the set up of online consulting. 
In the end, I made my own choices and am happy with them. The experience gave me more confidence in my own instincts.

"I sent the money and dimensions in in November 2011.  She responded back very quickly, informed me that she was very busy and wouldn't be able to start on my project for a couple of weeks.  I actually responded that that was fine.  After a month or so with no contact, i emailed.  She emailed  right back, apologized and asked for some more measurements.  I sent them.  Didn't hear anything, when in response to inquiry, she asked again for living room measurements-- that was Feb. 3rd.  On Feb. 20th, I emailed and asked for timeline.  She responded back the next day with 3 designs asking for my preference.  I emailed back on the 22nd of Feb with my preference.  On March 16th, I inquired again as to timeline for completion.Two weeks later she sent a concept board with some furnishings.  No window coverings or lights were suggested.  Three were multiple rugs with no direction of which one for each room.  All and all, not a pleasant experience.  I suspect I could have gotten better service using Pottery Barn's free design service (especially since most of the furnishings came from there.)"
