"They were prompt and arrived in a hour. He diagnosed and replaced the part. (Capacitor) Total cost was $370. After he left I googled the part he replaced, and they charged $231 . They are $30 at our local hardware store. You expect a little mark up, but that was a rip off. I will never recommend the again."

Installation typically takes 1-3 hours, depending on wiring complexity and ductwork requirements.

The cost to install a bathroom vent ranges from $240 to $560 for all the materials and labor involved. You’ll pay more for projects like these if you don’t have existing infrastructure, or if you’re installing more than one vent. Adding ductwork can increase your final bill by anywhere from $250 to $950.

Fan power is measured by CFM, or cubic feet per minute. For every 1,000 feet of square footage in your attic, you need a minimum of 700 CFM. Steeper roofs may need larger fans or about 840 CFM.  You can figure the size of attic fan you need by multiplying the square footage of your attic floor by 0.7. (multiply by 1.2 for a steep roof and 1.15 for a dark roof). That number is the CFM required for your fan to run efficiently.

If your fan is ceiling-mounted and will vent through the attic to the outside, you will need an electrician to handle the wiring, and if you need to install ductwork for the first time or replace existing ductwork, you will need an HVAC professional as well.
