"We had 3 bids for painting the stucco exterior of our condo. Roger Merrill gave us the best price. We were confident in hiring him because we'd seen his work on other condos in our neighborhood. We were also pleased with his contract which had photos of our condo, work needed, paint colors to be used and a price locked for 30 days. Due to problems with prior contractors, I checked his ROC record with the State of Arizona and it was flawless. He and his workers were courteous & timely, At the end of each day, they cleaned up their materials & were thoroughly professional. We recommend him with full confidence."

"Mark did an amazing job with our house, he was very responsive and the pricing was very reasonable. He painted the interior walls and trim of the whole house, but even fixed things we didn’t ask him to like dents on the corners and nail holes in the ceilings. We also asked him to paint our garage last minute and he did a fantastic job with that. He also made sure that everything was cleaned up and better than they found it once they were done painting."

Customers say: Quick response

"While this was a relatively small exterior painting job, I was provided with a detailed bid that was illustrated with color photographs. CertaPro took the extra effort to use the Dunn-Edwards paint that my HOA prefers and I'm very appreciative of that. The work was done very well and has visibly improved the look of my home. The painter even arrived five minutes early each day. Yes, I would certainly use this firm again."

Flooring Installation questions, answered by experts

To prep a floor for painting, start by sweeping and cleaning any loose debris that could puncture the protective material. Take out as much furniture as possible. Then lay plastic, canvas, rosin paper, or masonite sheets across the room, securing them at the edges with masking tape. Plan your painting so that you minimize the chances you’ll step in and track any splatters.

Now that you know the true pleasure of a squeaky-clean floor, you’re probably wondering how to keep floors clean between mop days. Here are the best tips to keep your floor looking spotless:

  • Give floors a quick daily swipe with a microfiber mop.

  • Keep a spray bottle of your cleaning solution on hand to use as needed.

  • Sweep daily and vacuum once or twice a week.

  • Clean up spills and messes as soon as they happen.

  • Place a doormat at each entrance to your home to reduce mud tracking.

  • Consider enforcing a “no shoes inside” policy.

  • Wash your pet’s paws before letting them back inside.

Carpet density refers to how closely together the fibers of a carpet are stitched into the carpet backing, with values ranging from 1,000 to 7,000. A carpet density value of 3,000 or higher is considered best for most homes, especially in high-traffic areas, such as a living room or dining room. If you’re comparing two carpets made of the same material, a higher carpet density can indicate better durability and longevity. However, carpet density is only one of many factors that can help you determine a carpet’s quality.

The best underlayment for carpet on concrete is a sponge rubber underlayment. This type of carpet padding is durable enough to endure wear and tear on hard concrete yet soft enough to provide comfort underfoot. It also creates insulation from sound and temperature, providing warmth despite the concrete’s cold surface.

The flooring that is the least toxic is solid wood. Natural linoleum, tile, stone, bamboo, and cork flooring also make the list of least-toxic flooring types. These flooring materials are safer and healthier for your home because they are natural materials that aren’t manufactured with chemicals, unlike laminate flooring. While some laminate flooring brands are made with less formaldehyde, many contain high levels of toxic chemicals that can off-gas in your home for months and years after installation.

Choosing natural flooring materials that are easy to clean without chemical cleansers can also help keep your home safer.
