Customers say: Quick response

"Once in a rare while, you have a opportunity to encounter a great artisan/craftsman! When we decided to replace carpeting and ceramic tile on our entire main floor living space, Desert Hardwood Flooring was enthusiastically recommended by Ms. Sandy Griffis of YCCA (Yavapai County Contractors Association.) Owner, Sylvan Incao, of Desert Hardwood Flooring is an extremely detailed and articulate individual who painstakingly measures for precise dimensions with perfect results. Sylvan and his assistant, Jesse, arrived at the pre-arranged time each morning and before they called it quits for the day, cleaned up both interior and exterior work areas. To keep our expert workers happy and nourished, each day we provided hot lunches and snacks to replenish all those burnt calories used to install the fabulous wood floors and creative entry way tile insert. Needing new floors? Look no further than Desert Hardwood Flooring and hire the BEST!!! Thank you, Sylvan, for your dedication to your craft as well as being an honest and outstanding professional!! "Just had Genesis Epoxy redo my garage floor and I’m really impressed. The whole process was smooth from start to finish, and the finished floor looks fantastic — clean, durable, and way better than I expected. Juan (the owner) was great to deal with. He was professional, communicative, and clearly takes pride in the work. He made sure everything was done right and took great care of me throughout the job. Highly recommend Genesis Epoxy if you’re looking for quality garage floor epoxy work."

"I am very happy with the work done by Jeremy of Premier Painting Service. The price was as quoted and very reasonable. We had the concrete front porch and walkway stripped and coated with epoxy and it turned out beautifully! I highly recommend this company."

Flooring Installation questions, answered by experts

Carpeting with a low pile is both slip-resistant and soft, making it one of the safest types of flooring in the case of slips and falls. In order to be fully ADA-compliant, carpet shouldn’t exceed the thickness of half an inch, and you should secure the edges to the floor to prevent trip hazards.

Other ADA-compliant flooring options include hardwood, laminate, or ceramic tile with a gritty, anti-slip surface. Ceramic or porcelain tile are actually some of the best types of flooring for wheelchair users.

Yes. When installed properly, the strong adhesive on carpet tiles keeps them in place while also allowing homeowners the flexibility to peel up an individual tile and replace it if they need to. It’s important to keep in mind that the adhesive on your carpet tiles may take some time to cure, so it’s best to leave them alone for a couple of days after you first install them.

While not always required, experts recommend removing baseboards before removing old carpet and installing a new one. This practice leads to a smoother process and a cleaner, more professional-looking finish. Removing the baseboards allows for a seamless carpet installation without the risk of damaging either the carpet or the trim. It also provides a good opportunity to repaint or stain the baseboards and inspect the underlying wall for any issues. If you prefer a quicker option, you can carefully cut the old carpet along the edge of the baseboards, but this may result in a less polished installation for the new carpet.

Carpet stretching can be a worthwhile investment to increase the lifespan of your carpet and eliminate unsightly wrinkles, ridges, and ripples. For an older carpet that is in relatively good condition aside from some wrinkling or bubbling, restretching can make it look like new and extend its life by at least a couple of years. You should consider restretching when you notice looseness or other related issues.

However, it's important to note that stretching will not fix issues like stains, wear in the pile, or discoloration. Consider replacing the carpet instead if the repair cost is more than 50% of the price of a new one. Additionally, if your carpet is past its expected lifespan of five to 15 years, or if it has been stretched multiple times already, replacement is likely a better option.

Sheet vinyl is the cheapest DIY flooring, depending on the brand, style, and quality you choose. Not only is it one of the most affordable flooring products on the market, but it is also easy for most homeowners to install, as it only requires cutting, trimming, and gluing down to the existing floor surface. Some sheet vinyl manufacturers make a loose-lay sheet vinyl flooring that does not even need to be glued.

Carpet squares, tile stickers, painting or stenciling existing tile floors, and painting existing concrete flooring are also affordable options for DIY flooring.
