"We had Gene at Canyon edge Excavating complete our project in Munds Park this week. We needed a trench dug over 100? from a power pole to our property with all the necessary conduit, sweeps, depths etc for APS. Genes communication every step of the way was outstanding! I work in the construction industry dealing with contractors every day and there is no one better. He made sure everything was Blue Staked, ensured all County easements were correct and dealt with APS for the inspections. I highly recommend Gene and Canyon Edge Excavating!! I definitely will be using him again for our pad and other projects."

"We've resided in PV for over 25 years. The initial landscaping included a drip system. The system required various fixes and adjustments. Luis and his team provide input that made sense at a reasonable price. Unlike prior contractors, the team was larger and more knowledgeable. We are planning on using this professional company for other projects in the near future."

"Scottgave me a fair price for mowing at my retirement property in Prescott. So I hired him. He was quick and did it right away. A local resident advised the work was good. So I'm happy and expect to hire Nostab again when cutting is next needed."

Excavating questions, answered by experts

There are many ways to cut through roots when digging, especially if your trencher doesn’t seem to be removing the roots. First, use a shovel to expose the roots. Then, use gardening shears to clear out smaller roots or a reciprocating saw to remove larger plant roots. If you plan on keeping the plant, avoid cutting any roots over 2 inches thick.

Trenching and boring are two distinct methods for installing underground utilities. Trenching involves digging a channel using equipment like an excavator, trencher, backhoe, or shovel. While it is a simpler process, it causes significant disruption to the surface, landscaping, and surrounding ecosystems.

Boring, also known as directional boring, is a less invasive alternative that uses a drill to create a tunnel for utility lines without disturbing the surface. This method is more precise and is ideal for installations that need to go underneath buildings, roads, or bodies of water. Although boring is less disruptive, it is generally more expensive than trenching.

Above ground pools are not buried in the ground. Typically, above ground pools are semi-permanent. One reason they’re more affordable is that you don’t have to dig for an inground pool and pour concrete or another material. However, you can choose to install a semi inground pool, which is a hybrid between the two.

To determine whether your homeowners' insurance will cover crawl space repair, consider the cause of the issue. Repair may be covered if the problems were caused by an event that the insurance covers, such as vandalism or a windstorm. However, companies won't cover the repair if the issues are caused by neglect or wear and tear.

Trenchers can dig holes as narrow as 4 inches or as wide as 4 feet. Check the specifications of the trencher you rent or buy to determine how wide it will cut into the landscape. Better yet, let the excavation company know how wide you’d like the trench to be, and they can help you choose the right trencher for the job (or do it for you).
