Professional Wood Floor Installation Hardwood Engineered Laminate Repairs of any flooring Vinyl installation Sanding/staining/refinishing

"I had Florin install my luxury vinyl plank floors on my new remodeled home. High quality floors. The home had two new additions, each addition had a new concrete slab poured against the existing slab. These transitions had slightly uneven concrete since it was not seamless. One of these, Florin poured self leveler, albeit not nearly enough, the other he did not. The floor prep was not done correctly and now in both areas I have cracked flooring down my entire kitchen, as well as in the middle of my living room. I am talking 25' of continuous cracks right over the uneven concrete. The floors depress over 1/2" when you step on them. At first I thought i could live with it, so didn't complain, but as time went on it got worse and worse. Now the floors cut your feet. I had Florin out to inspect, and he gave me the typical contractor excuse that its a high traffic area and floors are cupping bc they are vinyl. I have built several homes and also work in the trades. The only 2 places in the home where this cracking exists are exactly down the fault lines of these two uneven concrete surfaces. Cupping does not cause planks to split in two at each seam. He tried charging me nearly 25% of my entire 3000sqft floor install to fix this 100sqft section, which no guarantee it will work or look good. This is clearly a workmanship error and I am so tired of contractors not taking accountability for their mistakes. Florin is one of those guys. Avoid doing business with him. For $100 in materials and spending 1 hour to float the floor properly, this could have been avoided. All slabs are going to have uneven surfaces from settling etc. A good flooring guy will take a level out and make sure to fill any voids. My floors are ruined and will need to replace now the entire great room and add a seam to make it look right. $5000 mistake."

Floor Repair Companies questions, answered by experts

If you have mold under your vinyl flooring, it’s recommended that you have it ripped out and start fresh. Mold isn’t something to take lightly and should involve a visit from a professional who can both test and identify the mold. If you’re determined to remedy it yourself, wear all the proper protective equipment—eye goggles, a high N-rated mask, and long, disposable gloves.

Yes, professionals aim to match the existing material and pattern as closely as possible to ensure a seamless look.

Luxury vinyl plank (LVP) flooring is a thick, high-quality vinyl that joins with click-lock edges. Unlike some budget vinyl flooring, it’s tough, easy to install, and scratch-resistant. While this means it’s much less likely to get damaged by your dog’s claws, it isn’t scratch-proof. Regularly trimming long dog nails reduces the risk of scratch marks and helps keep your dog comfortable.

It’s true: Fido’s claws can scratch up your nice engineered hardwood floors since the top layer is made of exposed hardwood. For this reason, pet owners may want to opt for the more durable laminate flooring options that offer the appearance of hardwood without the vulnerability to scuffs and scratches. As a bonus, laminate flooring is also less expensive than engineered hardwood.

It depends on the reason for the sagging floors, but since sagging floors are usually a sign of foundation damage that you could have avoided, chances are your homeowners insurance policy will not cover the necessary repairs. Not only that, but your provider likely won’t cover the actual foundation damage that is causing the issue either, as it’s considered an avoidable type of damage, and negligence isn’t covered by most insurers.
