"They did a great job twice, and then have never come by for a check and just stopped responding me when I asked them to come by and pick up their money and mow my yard again. My front yard now looks like the African jungle because I've been waiting for someone to get back to me for about a month. I'm finding another service that responds."

Mulch and Topsoil questions, answered by experts

When it comes to which stone is better, crushed or natural gravel, it all depends on the project. Crushed stone is a great base and filler material for projects like retention walls, concrete slabs, driveways, pipes, and drains. Gravel is a common choice for visually attractive landscaping projects like walkways, above-ground drainage systems, patios, and garden borders.

You should use mulch because it protects garden soil in a few key ways. This extra layer between the ground and the elements protects against erosion, helps your soil maintain moisture, regulates changes in temperature, adds nutrients as it decomposes, and keeps weeds at bay.

No, mulch itself does not necessarily attract termites even though it’s usually made of shredded wood. Some types of mulch like cedar or cypress resist termites because they’re toxic or unappetizing to the wood munchers. However, when the mulch is deep enough, say three inches or more, it creates a perfect habitat for insects of all kinds to build nests.

If you have a lot of trees around your home, mulching all those leaves can smother the lawn. Air and light won't reach the grass and soil if too many leaves have been mulched. Turf grass and other lawn problems can arise if the weather is too wet and excessive leaves have been mulched.

Key considerations include dust control, soil erosion prevention, and protecting local wildlife habitats through sustainable clearing practices.
