Small jobs welcome

"This company was very professional. The drywall repair was completed in one evening, and the walls were repainted the next day. They carefully prepared prior to and completely cleaned up after the repair. I would recommend Wall 2 Wall Drywall for any drywall repairs! They did an awesome job! Thank you!"

"It was excellent. He was respectful and did not make a mess. He made a walkway of paper towels to not track anything around the house. He was quick and friendly. I did recommend him to a relative for other work because he was great."

"I hired Gon Rod Construction to repair drywall cracks in...and repaint the interior of...my garage, plus repair a poorly-done ceiling drywall patch (done by a different vendor) in a hallway inside the house. The company is a small, husband-and-wife (and family) business. I never heard of it before this job, so my review is a first-time and honest one. Co-owner Jaime provided the estimate and delivered the good on-time and within budget, as promised. His experience and workmanship is rock-solid; the repairs are seamless and you'd never know there was any need for it in the first place. His painters did a superb job in making the inside of the garage look like new. Years ago, a different contractor accidentally put his leg through a section of hallway ceiling; the handyman that company hired to fix it did an adequate job with the drywall but did a horrible job with painting over and texturing it. It stood out like a sore thumb and I got tired of looking at it. As with my garage, Jaime fixed it and you'd never know what happened. I can't honestly rate Gon Rod's value for the money any higher since I have no previous basis of comparison for the specific work involved, but I'm pretty sure it is competitive. I CAN say that I think I got my money's worth,. I'd use this company again and recommend it to other folks looking for a drywaller."

Drywall questions, answered by experts

Whether you need a drywall anchor depends on the specifics of your project, particularly what you're hanging and where. You do not need a drywall anchor if you can screw or nail the object directly into a wooden stud, as the wood provides sufficient support and stability. However, if there are no studs in the location where you plan to hang the item, you should use drywall anchors to ensure it is securely supported. For very lightweight objects, like small pictures, adhesive picture hanging strips can be a suitable alternative to anchors.

Deciding whether to repair or replace drywall can be tricky, but your top considerations should be the extent of the damage and what caused the damage. For instance, if you need to repair a small hole caused by a doorknob that hit the wall, you can safely patch it without a second thought. However, if you have significant drywall damage caused by water damage, it’s best to thoroughly remove the drywall to inspect and repair the pipes behind it before replacing it.

Most drywall used for interior walls of homes is 1/2-inch thick. This size strikes a balance of being easy to handle and hang while being thick enough for the durability needed on interior wall applications.

Whether you can reuse a drywall anchor depends on its type, material, and how it is removed. Plastic anchors, such as expansion or self-drilling types, are generally considered single-use because they are designed to expand and are likely to break or become deformed upon removal. Metal anchors, like toggle bolts, are more durable and can often be reused if they are not damaged during extraction. However, with toggle bolts, the toggle mechanism can fall inside the wall when the bolt is removed, making it difficult to retrieve. If an anchor is damaged or must be cut for removal, it cannot be reused regardless of its material.

If you want to reduce sound transmission throughout your home, soundproofing drywall is a better choice than standard drywall. However, simply installing soundproofing drywall may not completely block out noise. You’ll get the best results from incorporating it into a larger soundproofing plan that includes proper insulation and framing studs.
