"I can trust Liv's to always get the job done. Shes on time, equipped, and flexible. I can always count on her to take care of any specific needs as they come about and I always come home to a fresh home. On some occasions I am surprised with money I forgot about that she finds in my pockets. She always hands it right over. I will continue to have olivia clean my weekly as long as we are both able."

"Victor is a great professional painter. His willingness to work around our schedule was a nice change. We have an old house where none of the walls are straight, but the painting was great. Everything was cleaned up afterwords and he started and finished on time. Definitely use this company if you need interior painting done.

"Mr. Jay is very professional and provides extremely high quality work. He was always ontime and kept my husband and I updated as the project progressed. He is a very polite person and takes great pride in his work. I would highly recommend his services to anyone looking for any type of woodwork for their home. He was prompt in coming out for a quote and was able to complete our project within the discussed time frame. We were so thrilled with his work that we will be hiring him again for a deck in the near future."

Deck Cleaning questions, answered by experts

Yes, it is generally safe to have a fire pit on a deck, but you must adhere to building codes and take several safety precautions. For both built-in and freestanding models, you must use a heat-resistant barrier, such as a fire pit pad or heat shield, between the pit and the deck. Additionally, consider the weight of the fire pit and ensure your deck can structurally support it, reinforcing it if necessary. The fire pit must also be positioned a safe distance from your house, particularly from materials like vinyl siding, to prevent heat damage.

Covering your deck with a breathable tarp can protect it from snow, ice, and cold winter temperatures. This is a good winterizing solution if you don’t plan to use your deck at all during the colder months. However, it might be best to skip the tarp if you’ll still be walking on your deck or using it in a limited capacity.

The choice between Trex, a brand of composite decking, and PVC decking depends on your priorities regarding budget, appearance, and environmental impact. Both materials are durable and resistant to moisture and insects. Trex is often considered more eco-friendly because it contains recycled wood and plastic and is 25% recyclable, while PVC is fully synthetic and harder to recycle. Aesthetically, Trex is designed to look more like real wood, whereas PVC often has a glossier, more plastic-like finish. In terms of cost, Trex is typically less expensive than PVC.

While experienced DIYers may take on the challenge, hiring a licensed professional is often the best route, especially for larger or elevated structures. A local deck contractor is typically the best pro for the job, as they have specialized experience and are knowledgeable about local building codes, ensuring your deck is built safely and designed to last. Other professionals who can build a deck include general contractors and carpenters, who may be more readily available in some regions.

Although composite decking is extremely durable, it’s also susceptible to extreme heat. Prolonged exposure to sunlight can cause fading, warping, and cracking. Composite also retains heat more than wood, which makes it dangerous to walk on in the summer. You can help prevent heat damage by only building with composite in shaded areas or using rugs to cover the hottest spots.
