Customers say: Quick response

"Carlos and the Ace Construction team did a great job removing wallpaper and painting several rooms in our home. They worked tirelessly until the job was done. They also worked hard to clean up after the job was done. I am greatly impressed with this company and highly recommend them."

"I was very satisfied with the job they did. They just painted the walls and did not get any paint on the trim. They did professional work. When the job was completed they cleaned up after themselves. The price was reasonable. I will be using them again."

Small jobs welcome

"I used OS construction to repair water damage to bedroom ceiling. He did an excellent job and painted the ceiling as well. OS construction has excellent customer service. He was concerned about the dust on the stairs and was cleaning the steps which I thought was just precious and made me smile. After the job was finished he reported what was done and explained reasons about the appearance of ceiling and what to expect after the paint dried. I will definitely be using O S construction for other projects."

"He was very helpful in selection of modern colors used by decorators with whom he had worked. He was not satisfied unless the job was perfect and it certainly was. We could not have asked for a better result. Mr Gavin was good about clean up and being considerate of our property. We have already recommended him to a friend and we know they will be satisfied.

Deck Cleaning questions, answered by experts

The overhang, or nosing, of deck steps is another area that will be covered in building code requirements. The noses on your deck steps should have a minimum overhang of ¾ inch. For safety, usability, and code compliance, the nosing of deck steps should not extend past 1¼ inches.

Rot loves moisture, so deck rot typically impacts the parts of a board that stay wet. This includes the underside of boards, in addition to support posts and joists. However, any part of a board can rot, given the right conditions.

Some elevated decks require stairs that lead to the ground level per the local fire codes in some municipalities. In other regions, a staircase is an optional feature that can increase accessibility and convenience for homeowners who want ground-level access to their deck. Additionally, a staircase is necessary if your home doesn't have an existing door leading to the deck.

In many areas, a floating deck that isn’t connected to your home and stays under 200 square feet and below 30 inches in height may not need a permit. These freestanding structures are often considered low-risk, which can simplify the building process. However, building codes vary greatly based on location. Before investing in any home improvement project, check with your local permitting office for deck-building guidelines.

Cold temperatures can make your deck boards contract. If they don’t contract evenly, they can put pressure on the deck screws and cause them to pop out, making a noticeable sound. Winterizing your deck can help prevent this from happening.
