"The job was done very well. Our ceiling looks new again like there was no damage before. I also like that he made sure the surrounding area were all well protected from potential damages before starting his work. Steven is also kind and trustworthy."

"

Jorge did an excellent job!  He properly prepared the concrete floor with an acid treatment to clean the surface and expose the pores in the concrete.  After two days he applied the first coat of epoxy paint, and then applied the final second coat a few days later.  This process was consistent with the procedure for epoxy coating a concrete floor that I had read online.  We chose a light grey color from a very large selection of available colors.  The brand of epoxy paint Jorge used, Amercoat, is one - that I recall from my work experience - is commonly used for concrete coatings in nuclear power plants, so it is evidently a high quality paint for concrete surfaces.

We would definitely hire Vargas Painting again, and I have already asked Jorge if he could come back and apply coatings to our front and back concrete porches before the winter.  Jorge is also very professional and has a real pleasant personality!

Epoxy Flooring questions, answered by experts

How do I epoxy a garage floor?

To epoxy a garage floor, you need to measure the area of the floor, remove all items from the garage, thoroughly clean the floor, and then follow the manufacturer’s instructions to mix and apply the epoxy. Learning how to epoxy a garage floor can save you between $4 and $7 per square foot on labor.

Factors like the time of day you choose to seal the concrete, temperature, humidity, and airflow will impact drying time. To shorten the drying time, seal concrete in the late afternoon on a day with a temperature between 45 to 85 degrees Fahrenheit.

To preserve a concrete coating, routine maintenance should include regular sweeping and cleaning to remove debris and dirt, promptly addressing any spills to prevent staining, and applying a sealer as the manufacturer recommends. Inspect the surface periodically for any signs of wear or damage to ensure timely repairs and maintain the coating's protective qualities.

While there is a lot to like when it comes to epoxy flooring, there are some disadvantages for you to consider. For one, this flooring gets very slippery when wet, which means that it might not be the best option for homes with young children and older adults. Using an anti-slip coating can help.

Also, the installation period requires a long curing time of several days. Wet epoxy also releases strong smells during this curing period, which requires proper ventilation and safety gear.

Professionals clean surfaces, apply primers for smooth adhesion, and coat with specialized materials that promise durability.
