"Hired for concrete slab and walkway. Took concrete truck through my yard Contractor was polite and friendly, but service was not up to par. Had concrete truck drive through my yard the day after a downpour and it dug a trail all the way around my house. Contractor stated that they were coming back with a truckload of dirt to fix the ruts. He returned with a "bobcat" and attempted to smooth out ruts, but never brought any dirt. They left concrete overflow around my slab and walkway, stakes embedded in concrete and broken off above ground level. I will not consider this contractor for future projects as I was left to clean up concrete overflow and bring in a truckload of dirt to spread around my concrete pad to hide concrete that spilled over forms. "

While patio installation requires some heavy equipment to excavate the area and compact the soil, you can learn how to do a DIY patio installation and potentially save money versus hiring a pro to do the work. You should be familiar with taking measurements and doing calculations to determine the right amount of materials, and you’ll need to be comfortable working with the necessary equipment.
