"Art Freewalt is demanding of his people that they do things the way he wants, and he is picky, to his customers' benefit. To say we are pleased is an understatement. The results are so beautiful it's hard to believe they are the same rooms in the same house. A gentleman named Josh was given responsibility for the carpentry/drywall/tile work, and he proved skilled at all those. He used drop cloths to minimize the dust and dirt inside the house, and he cleaned up well. Josh is easy going and quite concerned about doing what needs done to accomplish what the homeowner wants. He also looked out for us in the sense of finding and fixing several problems that date back to the original construction of our house. The most memorable of those was a weight-bearing joist that had been sawn through to provide a place to run a drain pipe(!). He was able to repair/reinforce/replace as necessary when problems were discovered. Josh did a fine job with the ceramic tile we chose for all floors and walls. He has a very nice sense for decorative tile placement. He would call my wife in an show her the way he wanted to place them, and in all 3 rooms his ideas were right on. Art estimates the job, but his practice is to bill by the hour. He visits with his customers weekly to discuss the work, present a bill and receives a check. This worked well for us as we had the unforeseen problems mentioned earlier, and we added some "Hey, would you mind..." items to the do-list after the work started. For the downstairs 1/2 bath, once the floor tiles were in, we decided to extend the tile run from the bathroom about 5 1/2 feet through the laundry area to the main hall. And, we decided to have Josh remove the damaged dark paneling from behind the washer & dryer and replace it with painted drywall. Both were good decisions. There were a few other oh-by-the-way items as well. Since Art bills by the hour, we didn't have to renegotiate the job to cover the increased hours for problem fixing and extra work. Art and Josh both proved to be honest, straight-up guys who worked hard to provide what we wanted, and we'd be happy to have them work for us again. "

Yes, even if you’re being careful, removing tile can damage your drywall to some degree. However, you can minimize the damage done to it by eliminating a majority of the grout and taking your time prying each tile off. Also, it's worth noting that you might have more drywall damages to deal with if your tile is set into the mortar.
You can paint over plaster, but repair any damage to the plaster first, or the paint will crack and bubble. You should also prepare the surface of the plaster to accept paint, which gives your paint job the best chance of looking good and lasting a long time. Before applying the color you want, apply a coat or two of primer. Additionally, use latex paint, and choose a latex paint with a satin finish for areas with dampness, like bathrooms.
Drywall anchors won’t work on plaster. Instead, they will more than likely cause more damage and pull out the plaster. The best type of anchors to use on plaster walls are the ones that will bite into the surrounding area, such as molly bolts and toggle bolts. Masonry anchors with expanders on the sides also work for lighter pictures.
Applying spackle is a simple DIY project that most people can complete in just a few hours. Even homeowners who have little DIY experience can complete this project in an afternoon. However, if you're uncomfortable with the project or don't have the time, you can always hire a pro to help.
It’s not a good idea to plaster over broken plaster (unless by broken you’re referring to cracked, in which case that’s perfectly fine). However, broken plaster can be a sign of a larger underlying issue like foundation damage or severe damage to the lath holding up the plaster, so it’s worth investigating before you simply plaster on top of the damage.
