The floor was half carpet and half tile, and I wanted to replace the whole floor with porcelain tile. I got 3 quotes: $550 from Woeppel Construction (Brad Woeppel), $750 from Dante's, and $1,800 from Handyman Connection. The quotes from Brad and Dante also included installing a travertine tile backsplash. The quote from Handyman connection did not include that work. Brad did my kitchen and hallway a couple of years ago. I liked his service, his price, and his work, so I used him for this bathroom. He showed up the morning that we scheduled, got most of the work done that day, and finished up the next day. He removed the old flooring, including some concrete under the old tile, built up the sub-flooring to account for the concrete that needed to be removed, laid the new tile, and replaced the trim. The job also involved removing and replacing the toilet (which also involved replacing old sealing components) . I already had the tile, thin-set, and grout. He supplied the hardibacker, plywood, trim, and toilet seal components. I originally asked him about adding a travertine tile back-splash, and he included that in his original quote. He later convinced me not to add the back-splash and knocked $40 off his quote. I am very pleased with his service, his advice, his work, and his price. I would definitely use him again. Brad lives in Hot Springs but does quite a bit of work in Little Rock. The easiest way to reach him is to text him at his work number. After meeting with Chris concerning the design of what was wished for this area (20x24 feet) we were furnished with a design that would not only remove the concrete steps but would incorporate building the deck around an existing tree. John and Terry performed the bulk of the work with some assistance from Chris regarding delivery of materials and the requested two electrical outlets that were to be placed on the deck posts. The stain that we had selected required more that one application and Chris, John and Terry returned to the project 3-4 days after the initial application to finished the work, although they had another project to work on. They were all very professional in the work that they performed. Although it wasn't in the contract my wife and I were so pleased with the project that we gave John and Terry a small bonus to show our appreciation. We were very pleased with the final product and recommend them to anyone wishing to have a deck built. "This review is for the concrete driveway project completed eight months ago, and so far, everything looks great. There are no cracks, and they did an excellent job cutting the driveway to prevent future cracking. I highly recommend JR and his team for projects of any size. Their work is efficient, high-quality, and reasonably priced."

Concrete Finishing questions, answered by experts
Concrete overlay and concrete resurfacing are both concrete repair options. The terms are used interchangeably, and the meaning can vary from contractor to contractor. An overlay normally involves a thicker layer of new concrete over the old slab, which can last longer and add structural integrity to the old concrete. Resurfacing involves a thinner layer of concrete or resurfacing material and is for cosmetic upgrades only.
You can whiten concrete for unsealed and unfinished concrete with a solution or either muriatic acid or bleach and water—but never both. However, if your concrete does have a stain, finish, or polish, keep in mind that these hard chemicals could damage the topcoat. Your best bet otherwise is to power wash outdoor concrete slabs or clean indoor ones with a gentle cleaner such as laundry or dish detergent.
The prevention steps are essentially the same, no matter the patio material. Keep the surface clean and maintained. Ensure there's no debris buildup, and cover the whole thing in a quality sealant. If it's the start of a season or it's been a while since you've cleaned the area, use a pressure washer.
Yes, you can polish an old cement floor. However, be aware that the first pass with the concrete grinder may reveal a few surprises and imperfections. You may also have to contend with the consequences of previous floor coverings, such as tile or carpet, which can leave a pattern in the concrete. Old concrete is more likely to produce uneven results if you want to use a dye or other coloring.
Concrete sealing costs range from $1,400 to $3,000. You can seal your own concrete using materials and equipment from your local home improvement store, but you should make sure that the surface is clean and ready to accept a sealer. Hiring a professional is usually a good idea to make sure you get good, even coverage that will provide adequate protection. You may want to seal your concrete if you expect it to receive a large amount of foot traffic or heavy wear.
