"They were punctual and fast. I had to stop them short of completion, as some doors are not weather tight, and water seeped into the house. Not their fault! It would have been better had they been prepared to do some window/door cleaning by hand but that wasn't something they do.

You should prime interior doors before painting for the best results. If you do paint directly on the wood, you could see some of the grain patterns show through the paint, in which case you’d need to apply additional coats.
