"My husband has multiple medical issues that prevented him from finishing replacing a blower motor in our air conditioning unit. Mr. Ludlow took the situation and handled it professionally , not questioning "What my husband knew and did " as a problem. The blower motor was not the usual blower motor but was a variable speed motor. He and his son did what was needed . The air conditioning is working GREAT. Don't call the rest...Call the BEST"

"Joseph is a very professional and all around good guy. He explained everything he was doing. He was very clean and polite, and very professional. I could tell he knew exactly what he was doing. I would recommend him to everyone. I wish all AC service companies were as pleasant to deal with as this guy."

"Vincent and his crew were incredibly professional, efficient and SO pleasant to work with! They installed a new outdoor unit, redid some duct work, installed new vents, reconnected a dehumidifier and installed a new smart thermostat. Our A/C is running perfectly! Their pricing was incredibly competitive after being quoted much, much more by other well-known companies. I would recommend him and Aircreate Air Care over and over again."

"Jim did a great job. He quickly assessed the problem and then took our unit with him to work on it more. When he got back to us, the fix would have cost more than it was worth. He gave us options for a new or refurbished PC. We felt the refurbished was a good deal and chose that. He came back and set that up and we are very happy with it. He then took a look at my laptop and again took it along. He tuned it up and installed a speed upgrade we wanted. Of course, we paid extra for the new unit and upgrades, but we thought the price was very fair. Jim seemed very knowledgeable and responsive. We will definitely call him again if we need any computer services."

Air Conditioning FAQs, answered by experts

The best way to reduce heat upstairs is to release it by opening a window. Hot air rises, and if you can create some airflow by opening a window upstairs and also one on a lower level, the hot air should be pushed out of the home. Remember that fans pointing out the window do a much better job of circulating air than fans pointing into the home.

No, heat pump maintenance needs are very similar to air conditioners, including keeping outdoor units clean, changing filters regularly, and occasionally scheduling a refrigerant check to see if any has leaked out. Heat pumps typically switch automatically between heating and cooling, so you don’t need to worry about manually changing them every season. However, since they are always on call, they can develop wear and tear faster than an air conditioner.

No, you should not run an air conditioner with a Freon leak. If you think your AC unit is leaking refrigerant, shut it off immediately. When you keep using a leaky air conditioner, it could damage the unit and release more refrigerant. After turning off the AC, have an HVAC pro come take a look at the unit.

They can, but it’s not as common. Window AC units are much smaller than whole-house systems and less likely to develop refrigerant leaks or similar issues. As a result, you will rarely need to add a new refrigerant, limiting overcharging problems. However, it’s still important to leave refrigerant management in the hands of professionals when window units need work.

The DOE is phasing out AC units with SEER ratings that fall below 14 or 15. The exact minimum rating depends on your region. In the northern United States, new ACs must have a minimum SEER rating of 14, though you can still buy and install older systems as long as they were compliant when they were manufactured. In the southern and southwestern United States, you cannot buy or install older air conditioners with lower SEER ratings. The minimum rating is between 14.5 and 15, depending on the power of the unit.
