"I had them clear a few acres of raw land. Tree service was closest fit. They came w nice equipment for doing the job and the young man worked tirelessly all day. Cleared and flattened a couple of acres and cut driveways. It was fun to watch the mulcher chew thru the scrub and brambles. Nice folks. Iâ ll be calling them again for more work soon. Highly recommend them!!"

"I called JD and he came over that afternoon and looked the projects
over. He called me back with the estimate within an hour. After I gave
him the go ahead and the agreed up front money he told me when he would
start. He started on time and did a very good job. There were a couple
of things that we had not specifically discussed, such as putting some
extra support under one end of the deck, which was needed,  that he did
without me asking and without charging extra.  I am very satisfied with
his work and am already lining up the next project for him.
   JD is a really nice guy and is easy to work with.

We don’t recommend DIY tree trimming for a few different reasons. First, the tools required to trim a tree can be costly, up to $1,100 or more, for the ladders and specialized saws needed. 

Safety is another concern, especially when working with more mature trees. As a guideline, you should only DIY tree trimming when branches are less than two inches in diameter. Any more, and the safety risk becomes too high, which could lead to catastrophe. For this job, it’s safest to let a tree-trimming professional assess the work needed.

Generally, you should prune around 20% of an apple tree’s growth—and never more than 30%. This means that if you have a severely overgrown tree, it can take a few seasons to prune it back enough to produce the healthiest fruit. 

If you’re dealing with a newly planted or juvenile tree, hold off on pruning beyond the initial shaping. Wait at least a couple of seasons into fruit production since pruning can increase the number of water sprouts and unproductive foliage.

Bradford pear trees bloom in early spring with small white flowers. They typically flower for at least two weeks. In bloom, these trees often emit a foul-smelling odor that’s often compared to rotting fish. Bradford pear trees will sometimes bloom in the fall due to drought or other stress-inducing conditions. 

Most experts recommend removing a tree that has sustained more than 25% loss in the limbs, trunk, or circumference of the bark. Doing an initial trimming of damaged and dangling branches, but then waiting a few days of monitoring to decide how much more you might need to cut can help you better assess the total damage to the tree. It’s not as common for Dutch elm disease to affect other types of trees, especially if the surrounding trees aren’t elms. However, it is possible for DED to spread to other trees, particularly in northern states, like Minnesota. In fact, it’s a good idea to use geography to identify wood and determine which types of trees are in your yard. 

Unfortunately, the complex and shallow root system of elm trees makes surrounding elm trees particularly vulnerable to DED. Early discovery is key!
