"This was an addition on Mobile Bay. New master bedroom and bath, new living area, screened porch. New roof and siding throughout. The Project was not without complication, permits, surveys, inspections, window delivery delays, to mention a few. Throughout all this we worked very well together. Communication from the contractor was excellent at all times, explaining the issues and working with us on the solutions. Despite the challenges, the work was completed on budget."

"Mr. De Marco and his team began right on time and completed the project on time, despite learning that the deck support pieces were rotten upon pulling up the old decking. They had to fit in replacing the support structure completely and worked tirelessly and long hours to get it done - not just to finish on time for us but to also be able to keep their word to the next client to begin their project. The finished screened porch is more lovely, cool and shady (and bug free!) than we dreamed possible. Mr. De Marco came back as needed to tweak a few small items because he wants it to be just right and takes immeasurable (and well justified) pride in his work. He was flexible and patient as we asked questions or made adjustments."

"

We wanted to remodel our newly purchased condo but didn't think we'd be able to afford all the projects we had in mind because of the limitations of our budget. A couple of local contractors in Gulf Shores had estimated a minimum cost of $40,000. We contacted Help-Around-the-House based on favorable Angie's List reviews and found that they more than live up to their great reputation. Dan Parks and his team worked closely with us from start to finish, not only helping us to stay within our budget but also coming up with ideas that were better than what we originally had in mind. All of the work was of high quality, yet it was done amazing fast.  We couldn't be more satisfied with the final result.  We definitely recommend Dan Parks and the Help-Around-the-House team to anyone who wants high quality work done at a fair price.

"Recently invested in a vacation rental out of my state. I hired a local contractor one month in advance of the remodel for a smooth experience. I had one month to get the remodel completed and back on VRBO. Through the past years we have remodeled several rent houses, flip houses and personal homes, and very familiar with construction and contractors. THIS IS AN INCREDIBLE SUCCESS STORY FOR ANGI OF WHICH I AM FOREVER GRATEFUL!!!! The local contractor I hired a month in advance, absolutely flaked out middle way through the remodel which caused me to turn for HELP TO ANGI since I didn’t have connections locally. Oxen RCC LLC was the FIRST to respond to my need of HELP. Oksen came one day later to give me an estimate. Oksen is professional, polite, helpful, punctual, detailed, resourceful, researches all options, can be interrupted, with excellent communication as well as detailed paperwork and billing from Cassandra! Thank Goodness Oxen RCC LLC had an opening in their schedule to SAVE MY REMODEL!!! He began with solving a tiny bathroom problem by creating a custom shower pan to increase the size of the shower that previously felt like taking a shower in a plastic bag! The tiling job INCREDIBLE with the transformation breathtaking!!! The removal of the popcorn ceiling, now looks like a perfectly smooth iced cake! Oksen is so kind to stop what he is doing to help with little odds and ends jobs that arise in the middle of the project at hand! Went on to remodel a second bath with a new vanity, cast iron shower pan, tile and glass shower door. Plumbing for a new washing machine. Repair drywall in several places , two barn doors, more tiling, more removal of popcorn ceilings with Beautifully Smooth Ceilings! Install new trim. Stain new stair treads. New trim. Caulk and paint with Precision! A BIG THANK YOU TO ANGI FOR RECOMMENDING ME TO OXEN RCC LLC?. WE HIT THE CONTRACTOR LOTTERY WITH THIS CONNECTION???."

Unfinished Carpentry questions, answered by experts

There are a variety of second-story deck privacy ideas depending on your budget and aesthetic. For starters, you might consider fencing or tall privacy railing that masks a good portion of the open deck. A pergola or an awning can provide additional cover and shade. Outdoor curtains are an easy way to add or remove privacy at your convenience, plus they’re a wallet-friendly way to decorate your deck.

House framing can be expensive because the materials are pricey, and the job requires a high level of expertise. The more complex the plans, the more expensive the job, but even the most basic frame needs to be installed with high-quality materials and precision. When pricing your home’s framework, remember that a sturdy frame is necessary to create a safe structure.

There are both temporary and permanent ways to enclose a carport. If you’re looking to enclose your carport for the winter, a canvas enclosure could do the trick. It won’t be as protective as a permanent structure, but it can offer some protection from elements like snow, rain, and wind. For a permanent enclosure, you can add extra walls, add a new vertical roof, or a lean-to addition on one side of the structure.

Bow windows need support because they are large and extend out from the exterior wall of the home. Bow windows may extend 1 foot to several feet from the outside of the home, so you’ll need to provide additional support to handle this weight. A window contractor will be able to provide the proper amount of support for your new bow window.

No rules state how much of a load-bearing wall can be removed. Rather, you need to adequately support any area that is removed. Support should always be added to as much wall area is being removed. Failing to support the area properly will result in structural damage.
