"I looked on Angie's list to find a reputable electric company.  I called and inquired about the nature of my problem and was told my ceiling fan could be fixed.  I was given a date and time for service which was within 1 day.  The serviceman called prior to arriving to give me enough time to get home.  He introduced himself and covered his shoes with covers prior to entering the house.  He opened the folder to show me the prices upfront before he started the work.  After we agreed on what needed to be done, he was able to repair the ceiling fan in about 10 minutes.  He was knowledgeable, efficient and extremely polite. He answered all my questions and even fixed the electrical switch while he was here. I would definitely use them again. Before leaving, he explained the importance of having a yearly electrical check to ensure all plugs were grounded and that everything was as it should be.  He checked every fuse box and the smoke alarms.  He made recommendations that I had not even thought about and because of that, I had him install at the time a surge protector that would protect our TV's and computers in the event of a lightening strike. Overall, a great experience.

"Our 16 year old gas furnace stopped working on a Friday night.  Called for estimates on Saturday morning from three providers, all of whom offered comparable replacement units, with varying prices.  We appreciate all of them for making time on a Saturday.  Ethridge was the middle bid, and we were impressed with their professionalism.  We were also swayed by their promise to get it installed Monday afternoon.   On Sunday, it became clear that bad weather was approaching.  Spoke to Jamie Ethridge on the phone, who told me he'd postponed his Monday morning appointment because that was someone simply needing some maintenance, whereas we were out of heat.  The technicians arrived as re-scheduled early in the morning and worked straight through till late afternoon when the job was done.  Everything was done in a workmanlike fashion, and the technicians even put on booties over the shoes when entering the house to protect our carpet.  We're very pleased with this experience.
They offered a "one year same as cash" financing option that we took advantage of.  A big plus was that the entire process was online and very easy.  Pretty much all I entered was our annual income, employers, and social security numbers, and it was processed immediately.  No messy paperwork.

"Awesome. We have used these guys in the past for other houses, but since new ownership, it has gone to the next level.

The attention to detail was superb. We needed an additional air intake made and installed into existing ductwork for maximum efficiency, and they did this all at no extra cost. They came back after install to check on the new system. The new unit was priced well, and the installation from start to finish was superb. As always, these guys seem to hire the best technicians, knowledgable, friendly, polite and so helpful.

Wonderful experience. We really don't shop around on these guys, as we might save a couple dollars elsewhere from time to time, but the service is so good, I wouldn't use anyone else."

"They began wok in January but its not done yet. We already have a radon detector and we have a radon problem and he brought in instruments to do the measurements to confirm my issue. We went ahead to have a barrier installed and fans and all that. January weather isn't good for any service industry. After he installed everything I went down to take a look and the quality of work was not what I expected. So I asked him to mitigate it. The reading on the meter was correct but it showed that the work he did wasn't helping. After that we had a weekly monitoring and then the readings weren't improving fast enough. So it went into February and then March and in April we've had continuous visits. Every time he came back he made some adjustments and we saw a little bit of improvement but it's still not quite where it should be. So it was not what I expected. I'm just about to call it quits."

"Jim is local.  It went great. Jim Ferrell is a professional of the highest caliber. Responded quickly, took care of my problems, and advised me as to better means of protection than I had. He came back a second time to uninstall software that I purchased that did not provide adequate protections and installed free software that would do the job.  He did the work through remote connection, but is available on site if necessary.
For those people needing help on getting red of malware, viruses , etc. on your computer,  Jim is local, better than all thse remote out of state location providers, is a mature, highly trained professional in this area.
If you go to local computer stores you get very young people that can do a basic job, but are no where near the professional level of Jim.
I highly recommend Jim to anyone that needs these type services.

Install Boiler FAQs, answered by experts

Yes. Boilers need water to run without overheating, also known as dry firing. If you run it without a sufficient volume of water, either because of a burst pipe or a leak, you run the risk of damaging your machine or jeopardizing the safety of your home as a whole. When in doubt, shut off your boiler and repair any plumbing issues before turning it back on. Alternatively, consider installing a low-water cutoff (LWCO) before any issues arise. This gadget will protect your boiler by monitoring water levels and automatically shutting it off if it gets too low.

There are several types of home radiators, and the most common are steam heat radiators, electric radiators, and dual-fuel radiators. Steam heat radiators are connected to a boiler. Electric radiators can operate without being connected to anything else—they just need an electrical outlet. If you have a dual-fuel radiator, you’ll see a valve at the bottom of the system with a wire coming out of it and going into a wall. These are often your towel radiators in the bathroom. The type of radiator you have will impact how you turn it on.

Boilers are equipped with multiple safety features to ensure safe operation. These include pressure relief valves to prevent overpressure, temperature high-limit switches to avoid overheating, and flame failure safety devices in gas boilers to cut off the gas supply if the flame goes out unexpectedly. Low water cutoffs prevent operation with insufficient water levels, and pressure gauges help monitor pressure levels. Ventilation and flue systems prevent the buildup of harmful gasses. Boilers often feature error code systems for automatic shutdown during malfunctions and gas leak detection for safety. Regular maintenance is crucial to ensure these safety features function correctly.

A home radiator works by using radiation and convection to transfer heat throughout your home. Electric radiators use metal to conduct heat and warm the air, which then rises to warm the room. Steam and hot water radiators work with a boiler and piping system to pump thermal energy throughout the home. Hot water radiators use a boiler to heat the water before circulating it to the radiator, while steam heating radiator systems convert the heated water to steam before circulating it out. When the water or steam cools, it travels back to the boiler to be heated again.

The primary differences between a heat pump and a boiler are their function and how they produce heat. A heat pump is a versatile system that provides both heating and cooling by moving ambient air and altering its temperature. In contrast, a boiler is solely a heating system, often working with a furnace or AC unit as part of a larger HVAC system. In terms of heat production, a heat pump generates heat more slowly and at a lower temperature, requiring a large convector for distribution. A boiler, however, produces a large amount of high-temperature heat that it emits through smaller radiators.
