- Guyette Roofing & ConstructionGuyette's Contracting didn't do a good job. I had a home inspector come in afterwards and he said the paint needed to be redone. I never in my whole life seen anything like the bad service they gave me. They did an awful job painting and tried to charge me more to fix it. I bought 11 blinds and he was supposed to hang them all, but they only hang 4. I had to pay to get the rest hung. The house has been smoked in and the walls needed to be washed down before painting. He said they would take care of it and put down primer and two coats of paint. There's no wall that has a primer and two coats on it. He said he was going to send an electrician out to give me some price on some electrical work, and I never saw him either. He originally was supposed to hang all the light fixtures, and he never did that. For that, he did give me a discount off the total price. They painted the inside of my cabinets with the newspaper still in it. While he was there, he said I have a lot of nails sticking up on the roof and he can remove them for me. He ended up removing one nail and charged me $25.00 for that. The house had been vacant for about a year, and he didn't even think of washing the walls or brushing it or wiping it off, before he painted it. He put 11 people in there and there was too many people in there for me to see what they were doing. All 11 people had a paintbrush and they were painting every which way they felt, painting over stuff and dirt, without cleaning anything. They removed the drywall in two walls in my living room and finished up one of the small bathrooms -- he charged me $750.00 for just that work. He had a guy come back to finish the painting and there was a half a gallon of paint left. I wanted to get more but the guy who had come back said he had enough. After he left, I seen the paint and realize from the texture and amount left that he had been adding water to the half gallon that was there. He also went to clean up his brushes and everything in my brand new sink and new garbage disposal. I could have lived with the amount they charged me if they had done everything they said they were going to do, for the price. I wouldn't recommend him to someone I didn't even like

"I placed an order for 3 tops down bottoms up cordless pleated blackout shades, to replace similar light filtering shades from another company. The shades were reasonably priced, arrived on time and fit correctly. However I'm unimpressed with their overall quality. Three things bother me about the blinds:
1) they are extremely noisy when being raised or lowered
2) they need to be adjusted for level every time they are raised or lowered
3) inside the upper housing, there is a string that appears to move as the blinds are raised or lowered. Since the string rubs against parts in the housing, it is likely it will eventually break.
I don't think I'd buy these again.

"We just completed installing a motorized retractable awning from [*** Link removed ***] and are super pleased with the quality of the build, appearance and customer support.? This Italian-designed, engineered and manufactured awning is assembled and shipped from RetractableAwnings.com Florida plant, so if you need assistance with the install, you should contact a local handyman, carpenter or contractor.? Ours is a Palermo Plus, 16 ft. wide, with an 11 ft.-10 in. projection.? The Internet salesperson, Eric Scop, V.P., really worked with us to understand all the options and get fabric swatches.? We ultimately selected a combination Rain/Sun sensor and Vibration sensor to automatically retract the awning in case of heavy rain or excessive wind.? I spoke with Rocky, their installation expert, for advice on preparing the ledger board to attach the awning to our vinyl sided home, right below the soffit.? His advice was instrumental in making the install go so well.? Further, the awning arrived already programmed to the Soliris transmitter and the motor limit switches were also set.? It shipped in a fiberboard box (this one was about 17 ft long and 1 ft x 1 ft square, weighing over 200 lbs.), which was extremely tough.? The truck driver ignored the box orientation stickers and used a hand truck to move it from the center, rather than two hand trucks, one at each end, per the clear placarding on the box.? Despite this, it arrived in great shape, other than a couple minor paint scratches, which we will fix with touchup paint they are sending at no charge.? While the enclosed wall brackets were different from those described in the installation manual (an improved design), installing them was no problem. An extra bracket was included, which we also installed as this will be a large ?sail? on the side of the house and we want it to stay there.
