Every job is supervised from start to finish by the owner of the business, a second generation roofing contractor. Bubble wrap is better for moving since it can be cut to size, whereas dish foam comes in precut sheets that are harder to manipulate. However, if you’re packing items like dishes, wine glasses, picture frames, or mirrors, dish foam will protect them better. Ensure you measure your box beforehand so you know what size dish foam to purchase. 

We recommend that you cut batts of fiberglass insulation with a sharp utility knife. However, in a pinch, you can use tools such as a box cutter or even a pair of scissors. No matter what cutting tool you use, just make sure it’s sharp so you get a clean, straight cut. Always cut along the back (foil) side of the fiberglass, rather than the “fuzzy” side of the material.

If you have blown-in insulation, using an insulation vacuum will quickly and easily suck up all the insulation. Many come with built-in HEPA filters for added safety. While some people suggest breaking up large batts and feeding them into the vacuum, this can expose you to more fiberglass fibers. With batts and rolls, carefully removing them and placing them into garbage bags is a better process.

Rigid foam insulation boards are one of the best insulation materials for crawl spaces. This material insulates the home well, resists water damage, and won't settle like fiberglass or cellulose. Closed-cell spray foam insulation is another effective insulation that both seals the air and provides excellent thermal protection for hard-to-reach spaces like crawl spaces.

There are two places where you should not place foam insulation: around electrical boxes or near lightboxes. The foam insulation could get inside the electrical boxes and damage the wiring. Spraying foam too close to a lightbox creates a potential fire hazard; it could also cause damage to the light.
