"The privacy fence was top notch & well done to perfection. Chris & his dad worked consistently day to day except for a day of rain, but that didn't stop them from finishing the job & having it done in a timely manner. I will be more than glad to recommend Talus Construction to my friends & neighbors for a well done project. Thank you Chris Staples & Dad for providing me with the experience of your hard earned work & expertise of making my backyard look perfect. The final results of the privacy fence turned out so beautiful. I will be calling you again for more services. Job well done guys & Thanks again ð ð ð"

"They did a good job. I was just hoping it would stop my wood floors from creaking but they are worse. Overall believe the work done will be good for the house support though"

"Of the dozen or so repair/improvement contractors we've hired over the past five years, Frederick Services is by far the most professional and demonstrates the most pride in workmanship. After less-than-acceptable experiences with other contractors, Adam and his crew are now our go-to guys for all things home-improvement. They built a 750 sq ft deck on the back of our house; repaired, restored and stained the deck/porch on the front; replaced the door and painted our underground storm shelter; and they're currently refurbishing our gazebo, including installation of a metal roof. We fully intend to hire them again when we begin our interior renovations. They're prompt and reasonably priced, with great integrity. Adam found he'd overestimated the manhours on a recent project and adjusted our cost down by more than 900 dollars. You'll be hard pressed to find a home improvement contractor as good as Frederick Services; you won't find one better."

"Found Sentri on Angi. Jeanette and Violet were very pleasant and efficient in getting a contractor to me in the time frame needed. The contractor was excellent and the roof looks great! I would definitely work with them again if I had additional projects."

Most of the time, you’ll want to use screws on your subfloor rather than nails. Nails can actually weaken plywood, whereas screws can easily penetrate without damage. They also form a more secure connection because of their shape, preventing squeaky floors and tightly holding the subfloor in place. That said, some contractors do prefer nails depending on the type of floor covering because they allow for more flexibility.

Yes, a 2x6 should hold a porch swing and safely support the load. A smaller joist runs the risk of it not offering enough support for the swing. If you have a joist smaller than 2x6, add additional bolstering support.

Building a barndominium means converting a barn into a house. Barndominiums are becoming popular as spacious and stylish alternatives to typical housing structures. Old barns that become houses traditionally consist of wooden construction. However, newer structures, such as pole barns, often contain metal exteriors and roofs. Converting a metal outbuilding into a house presents an excellent opportunity to create a barndominium from metal.

No rules state how much of a load-bearing wall can be removed. Rather, you need to adequately support any area that is removed. Support should always be added to as much wall area is being removed. Failing to support the area properly will result in structural damage.

The average cost of DIY window framing is about $40 to $60 in materials. If you hire a window treatment professional, you’ll pay for materials plus labor costs—anywhere from $250 to $800 per window. The final cost is highly dependent on the window size, as larger windows are heavier and more difficult to install, as well as the type of window framing material.
