"STL Woodworking did a stellar job with my special order for a one-of-a-kind river wood table. I described what I had in mind in terms of wood, colors, and size, and the owner (Greg) crafted the most beautiful table made out of a beautiful piece of macacauba wood and paired with a gorgeous epoxy color and a perfect set of black metal table legs. Greg completed the project on schedule and delivered the piece himself. The table is stunning, so I rearranged my furniture to make it a centerpiece in my sitting area, and I use it daily as my desk working from home. It is truly a piece of functional art. I am so glad I went with STL Woodworking for this project."

"Jeremiah and team did a terrific job on our new hot tub deck. The project was complex as it needed to be built on the slope, tie into the house, and support a large hot tub with gazebo. Jeremiah listened well and contributed helpful ideas to make the overall design better. The price was very competitive, with documented bids and invoices. The construction team showed up on time and cleaned up after themselves daily. We liked them so much that we hired them for another job right after. I would recommend hiring Jeremiah and his team."

"I am pleased with the experience. However, the ultimate quality of the porch repair will be more evident over time - ie when the support remains stable or settles more than desired. At this time, I would hire them again"

"They did a good job. I was just hoping it would stop my wood floors from creaking but they are worse. Overall believe the work done will be good for the house support though"

"I contracted with this young man last year for landscaping my front and back yard. He removed old growth and designed and planted new landscaping. I had a wooden fence that needed to be replaced this year and he has just completed this project. It was a very large area and it has been completed in a very professional manner. He is a hard worker and will always strive to do everything to complete a job to his customers satisfaction. If you have work that needs to be done I would highly recommend him."

Carpentry questions, answered by experts

For maximum stability, install grab bars on wall studs, as this will adequately support the weight. However, if you don't have access to studs, you can get by with wall anchors. If opting for the latter, choose specialty hollow wall anchors.

While some highly experienced homeowners can frame a house independently, it is not advisable. You will need ample carpentry experience, a team of helpers, and professionals to sign off on your work to meet local building codes. For the safest outcome, we recommend buying or building a house with the guidance of professionals.

Yes, most services include necessary frame modifications for proper door fitting. Confirm with your provider.

When hanging a door frame, it’s recommended that you use screws, not nails. Screws are more secure, easier to tighten, and easier to remove if you need to adjust the frame. On average, the cost to replace a door frame is about $400, but you can save on labor costs if you’re confident in your ability to DIY the project.

Metal stud framing parts include the studs themselves, upper and lower tracks that act as top and bottom wall plates, various angle fasteners and clips, screws for fastening pieces togeher, metal straps, c-channel supports, and thicker steel supporting structures. Roof framing metal components include pre-fabricated trusses, heavy-gauge stud pieces, and various plates and fasteners.
