"It went great Craig, and his helper arrived on time and did a great job of cleaning a 40 year old never been cleaned fire place chimney. He cleaned up after himself and leaf the hearth clean also. Had lots of broken brockets that he was able to repair also. I recommend Craig for cleaning of chimneys."

"Called and set an appointment to meet.  Mr. Trawick responded promptly and met me for a free estimate and rendering.  His plant recommendations were great and even accommodated my request to use other shrubs he had not suggested.
Price was fair and a date was scheduled.  The install was on time and to my satisfaction.
During install one of his trucks damaged my driveway.  Being the fair and upstanding business owner he is, his son immediately contacted me to let me know and they worked with me to offset the repair costs to my driveway.  Problem to solution was less than a day.
I'm sure you can all appreciate how hard it can be to find an honest business person in town sometimes, well these folks are the real deal and I would definitely work with them again.

Small jobs welcome

"We had the old wood burning fireplace, stove pipe, chimney cap, and chase cover completely removed (fireplace was rusted out, unsafe, and unusable). In its place we had a 36 inches SimpliFire electric fireplace with an integrated 10,000 BTU heater installed and trimmed-out with metal. Although initially skeptical of a fake fireplace, it is incredibly realistic in all respects (the flames, fire, logs, articulation, coals, etc.) and truly conveys having real fireplace in our great room. The fireplace has a remote and you are able to adjust the fire setting (flame height), set the temperature, and use a timer to automatically have it turn off at a desired interval. The heat output is separate from the fire and you are able to just have the fire going without any heat for next to nothing in terms of cost. When selected, the heat output is incredibly warm (but safe) and the blower is barely perceptible. Also, the 10,000 BTU is more than sufficient for a large room and none of the heat is being wasted up the chimney. Additionally, there is no wood, duraflame, ashes, cleanup, etc. However, if you want that persistent smoky smell in your home and the realistic crackle and pop, then you will want a traditional fireplace. However, for my wife and I, there is no way we would ever go back to a traditional fireplace as the replacement is so realistic and convenient (realism, aesthetics, and function). In addition to the fireplace, we also had a stainless steel chase cover (20-year warranty) installed to keep out the elements (the old one leaked terribly) and anchored securely to withstand poor weather. Sootmaster also sealed all the mortar cracks and applied several coats of Chimney Saver to the entire brick chimney. As for value, I rated Sootmaster as 4.0/5.0 only because their price is on the high-side. However, the old adage **you get what you pay for** is so true and the service, responsiveness, craftsmanship, and quality are outstanding and from our initial engagement to project completion, they exceeded our expectations and provided an outstanding product and service, and we highly recommend them and will use them in the future."

"They did a great job. On time, professional , knowledgeable and efficient. The cleaned my 20 foot dryer vent and now my dryer works even better. Checked all the smoke detectors explained how they work and how long they are good for. The same with the co2 detectors. He also explained about the fire extinguishers and which one are the best for which room. I will defiantly have them come back again next year for the yearly inspection.

Fire Pit Installation questions, answered by experts

Yes, dead palm tree fronds are a fire hazard. The leaves become highly combustible because the dead fronds don’t fall off the tree themselves, especially in hot, sunny climates. In fact, many wildfires start from dead palm fronds. Palm trees can also easily catch fire from lighting, electrical power lines, and fireworks. So, cutting off dead palm fronds before they become a fire hazard is important.

In general, it will take about 90 minutes to burn the creosote sweeping log by itself, allowing it to work its magic. This may be longer or shorter depending on the conditions of your chimney.

No, you should never leave a fireplace burning overnight or unattended during the day. While fireplaces are made to contain fires, fires can and do spread from fireplaces, so it’s crucial that you’re there to monitor them and put them out if needed. If you’re worried about putting out a fire before bed, stop feeding it fuel long before bedtime and actively put out the fire using your poker, a shovel, and some baking soda.

Yes. It’s okay to leave a pellet stove on overnight, and these stoves can provide 24 to 48 hours of warmth from one ignition. However, you should practice proper pellet stove maintenance, like cleaning the burn pot before each use, deep cleaning the unit at least once per year, and running the fan when the stove is lit.

One of the best ways to know your chimney is good to go on any given night is to simply look up into your flue with a flashlight. If you see a thick buildup of creosote—a shiny, dark substance that looks like tar—it’s best to have your fireplace professionally cleaned before you go ahead with the burn. Additionally, having your fireplace professionally inspected once per year can also help increase your peace of mind and keep your family and your home safe.
