"C. J. Benintende installed hickory wood flooring in our entire first floor kitchen, dining room, laundry room, recreation room, master bedroom, living room and hallways. In order to accomplish this he had to remove tiling in some of the rooms and expertly level all of the previously un-level floors. The outcome was structurally sound and the appearance is beautiful. In fact, we were so pleased with his work that we hired him to completely redesign and remodel our Master Bathroom. In the master bath, C.J. installed stone tile shower walls and floors, redesigned and re-tiled our bathtub enclosure and installed new tiling on the bathroom floors. He essentially made a 23 year old, outdated, and very average-looking bathroom, look brand new and beautiful. C.J. will be our "Go To Guy" for any future home projects."

"The project went very well and was completed in a timely manner. The crew were efficient, through, and quite a joy to be around. The posses a great sense of humor, sharing family stories, work stories while sawing, hammering and staying focus on their work. When I had questions about the pluming, they were quick to show me and explain to me what a "P" trap was and how it worked
The workers laid the tile out in the design I suggested to let me see what it would look like before the final process.
The crew of Dream Bath's of Alabama were sincere I their works and my wife is very pleased with the results. They even explained the warranty, and warranty process o the plumming, bath fixtures and they backed up their works. GREAT!

Ceramic Tile questions, answered by experts

Tiling can be DIY with the right tools and skills, but challenges like ensuring evenness and appropriate adhesion often warrant professional handling.

No, tiling over painted walls or wallpapered surfaces is generally not recommended. Textured surfaces and paints will affect the adhesive, possibly causing tiles to lift or fall off. Painted walls with a semi-gloss or high-gloss finish are particularly difficult for adding tiles. It’s wise to strip the paint first if you install the tiles to drywall, although it’s still best to opt for a cement backer board.

If you hire a professional to lay tile, you can expect to pay $3 to $15 per square foot for labor. For a 100-square-foot tiling project, that would equal $30 to $150 in labor. These costs may increase if you need extra services (such as tile removal, wall repair, or waterproofing). For example, tile removal costs an additional $2 to $7 per square foot.

Yes, provided you aren’t installing drywall over it. But you can skim coat it, apply new tile right on top, paint it, or stencil it. For more budget- and DIY-friendly options, you can install beadboard or apply decals. Just make sure that the current tiles are in good condition and prepped well for the paint or adhesive to stick.

Silicone caulk shouldn’t be used in place of grout because each material serves its own purpose. Thanks to its flexibility, silicone caulk is good for sealing around the perimeter of tiled floors, where movement and expansion might occur. However, grout is more durable, making it a better option for the joints in between tiles, which need to withstand constant weight and foot traffic.
