"I had a great experience with Royal Tree Services. I initially requested a quote and they got back to me very quickly and came out to check the tree without any hassle. They gave me a very fair price, and at the time I was just comparing options. What really impressed me was their follow-up. The following Sunday, they called to let me know they could still take care of the job, including removing a large pine tree, grinding the stump, handling the large roots, and hauling everything away. They even offered to leave logs behind for firewood, which was a nice bonus. On the day of service, they were incredibly responsive and arrived within about 15 minutes. The entire job was completed in roughly 2.5 hours, which was much faster than I"

"GREAT experience! Ià ¢à  à  m an à ¢à  à  olderà ¢à  à  recently widowed homeowner who knows absolutely nothing about trees. Through our phone conversation and FaceTime tour of the 3 trees, Mike quoted me a price that fit my budget and scheduled the project for the next day. On his arrival, he observed the subject trees and made sure he was clear about my expectations and offered suggestions about what he could do to achieve that result. In less than 2 hours, the trees were trimmed and shaped and looked even better than I imagined. The area was cleaned up nicely. Ià ¢à  à  m an extremely happy and will definitely hire Mike for future projects. Ià ¢à  à  ve already recommended him to 2 of my neighbors who stopped by and commented on how nice my trees look!"

Small jobs welcome

"We hired Aurora Woodworking to sheet & trim our cabin & generator shed. He was very professional and did first rate work. He also replaced a stove pipe on our Sauna and chimney cap on our guest cabin. He arrived as scheduled and did exceptional work on everything we needed to get done with no snags or hassles. I canâ t praise Aurora Woodworking enough. Lucas was a pleasure to deal with and he executed the project seamlessly."

Arborists questions, answered by experts

Only trim palm trees as needed, which is usually about once per year. However, don't stick to that schedule if the palm tree doesn't need it. Avoid trimming palm trees when possible. It’s best to trim palm trees only when you notice a buildup of dead fronds. That said, leave the brown fronds during the dormant season because this organic matter helps protect the tree from the cooler weather.

You should not trim an oak tree in the summer. Oak trees are especially susceptible to disease, and open tree wounds are an invitation for beetles that carry tree-killing fungus. If there’s no risk that the oak tree will do damage to your property or hurt someone, it’s best to save the trimming for fall or winter. If you can, seal the wound with latex to prevent fungus from getting inside.

Trees provide many benefits, including shade, habitat for local wildlife, and cleaner air, so it’s always a good idea to try an alternative strategy like crown reduction before you chop one down. But sometimes, cutting down a tree is the only option (like if it’s severely diseased). A licensed arborist can assess the tree and recommend the best course of action.

It may not be worth it to rake every leaf in your yard, but it’s necessary to remove the majority of leaves to prevent them from smothering grass growth on your lawn. However, raking leaves isn’t your only option for leaf removal. You can remove leaves easily with a leaf blower or compost or mulch them with your lawn mower to repurpose them to help grow your garden or yard.

No. Most of the time, suckers are only a sign that the tree is experiencing stress. However, they can also be the canary in the coal mine, letting you know that something else is stressing your tree. If you have lots of suckers on your tree, calling in an arborist or a tree care expert is always a good call to determine the cause and develop a solution that de-stresses your tree.
