Small jobs welcome

"We hired Aurora Woodworking to sheet & trim our cabin & generator shed. He was very professional and did first rate work. He also replaced a stove pipe on our Sauna and chimney cap on our guest cabin. He arrived as scheduled and did exceptional work on everything we needed to get done with no snags or hassles. I canâ t praise Aurora Woodworking enough. Lucas was a pleasure to deal with and he executed the project seamlessly."

"Joe was fantastic! He made us aware of a problem that we thought had been resolved years ago. He was very flexible with when and how work got done. He worked to find solutions that would work for my mom , who is elderly and lives alone. He was able to help mom with a variety of smaller projects that she needed done. Joe is very kind and is good at communicating with both my mom and myself. I really appreciate his professionalism and understanding."

"Rick was easy to work with and suggested excellent quality windows. With the pandemic problem, they stayed in touch trying to get the windows from the manufacturer. The installation was quick and easy and done exceptionally well. I am very pleased with the product, the labor and the cost. I have already suggested them to others who has used them for their windows also!"

Holiday Decorating questions, answered by experts

There is no formal date for Christmas light removal, but January 2 is a standard day to take them down for many homeowners. However, some homeowners’ associations have strict rules around this topic, mandating that residents remove lights no later than two weeks after Christmas. Check with your local association or community for more information.

Professionals use the same methods found in this guide unless they’re decorating a particularly large Christmas tree. In that case, they may also make use of tools like extension poles to get the job done.

Several options for hanging Christmas lights won't damage gutters. Using shingle clips avoids any hardware contact with them, and using plastic gutter clips minimizes the likelihood of scratching gutters. Remember not to rest a ladder, especially a metal one, against the gutters, and use a ladder stand-off device or stabilizer if you need to use an extension ladder.

Outdoor Christmas lights cost between $80 to $300 on average without installation. This comes out to about $4 to $50 per strand. You can get a box of outdoor Christmas lights for as little as $20, if you just want to decorate a small area, like a doorway. If you want to go all out and cover your entire home, you'll need between 10 to 20 strands of 100 to 200 bulbs each.

Nails are a popular choice for hanging string lights, but they are not the only option. Use outdoor hooks, zip ties, or even awning hangers to string up lights outdoors. For indoor lights, use simple tacks, zip ties, damage-free adhesive hooks, or drawing pins. When all else fails, just wrap the lights around some furniture or outdoor fixtures.
