- The Carpentry & Painting Experts LLCThe first team, made up of Drew, cleaned gutters and power washed, painted ceiling and pre-treated the spot to make certain there was adequate coverage with the paint; a second team, led by Randy, spent a whole Saturday from early morning until dark to do the exterior painting. They were unable to finish and returned the following Monday to finish up. They provided top grade Sherwin Williams paint for the painting needs. David came out to replace some shingles that had loosened in a storm and caused the water leak in the den. As the painters were finishing up, they noted that there were oil stains from their truck on the aggregate driveway. They made 3 trips to try to remove the stains and would not invoice us until we were completely satisfied with their efforts. We were given a 15% discount from being on Angie's List. Martin Borisov came out promptly when asked to provide an estimate. I was very pleased with the estimate - it was much lower than I expected for the difficulty of especially painting the railing around the front porch and deck. They were all very professional and responsive and all obviously took a great deal of pride in their work. They cleaned up from everything they did and were very pleasant and personable in all our interactions. I would definitely use them again and plan to in the spring with more painting. I just wish they did landscaping work and anything else I need done on my home! They are a terrific company and anxious to make their customers happy. What really impressed me is that they would not invoice me until weeks after they made the driveway look like it did before they got here. There was not one word of protestation that they caused the stains - which, in itself, is unusual. Give this company a chance to bid on any work you have and I would be happy to give anyone a reference for them

After admiring the quality of their creative work, I contacted the owner (and artist), Carol Coffey-Smith, and asked if she would help me update my kitchen walls with colors that would match other colors in the kitchen. I was very impressed with Carol's thoroughness and professionalism and ended up hiring her to repaint the kitchen walls and make new curtains for my windows (we could not locate pre-made curtains that were a good match, so Carol offered to make them herself). The next project I hired Knot Vanilla for was updating the walls of my son's bedroom. Carol painted three of the walls, then put up a wallpaper border. On the fourth wall she put up a wallpaper mural. It all looked wonderful, but I was most impressed with how Carol took all of my son's and quot;wall stuffand quot; and arranged it in a very eye-appealing way... grouping all his awards, sports memorabilia, miscellaneous things, and even coming up with a creative way for my son to display his many ball caps. A couple years later, I hired Knot Vanilla to upgrade my bathrooms, which included paint color selection, tile floor selection, counter top selection, and lighting. And shortly after that project, I enlisted Carol's help again in redecorating all my downstairs walls, which included locating and installing decorative full-length mirrors. She even rearranged some furniture and installed staggered shelving in my home office. Most recently I used Knot Vanilla's services for advising on replacing the flooring in my kitchen and foyer, additional lighting in the kitchen, and window treatments for my master bedroom. In every instance, Carol brought over samples (when applicable) and affordable recommendations, and the final look -- without exception -- was always better than what I had envisioned. Another big reason I don't hesitate to call Knot Vanilla is that they are so reasonably priced. And Carol's often willing to offer her regular customers free advice on small projects, which I also really appreciate. I've recommended Knot Vanilla to my sister and a few friends, and they've all been pleased with Carol's responsiveness, talent and budget-conscious recommendations

"I contacted N. Chasen and Son to replace our shutters. While working on the quote for the shutters via email, a wind storm tore some trim off our house, so I asked if they could include that as part of the work (as well as replacing some siding and a louver). They sent someone out the next week to check the shutter dimensions and determine what was needed for the trim, siding, and louver. They suggested repainting the louvers instead of replacing, and sent me a quote for all the work and to get it scheduled.
On the scheduled date, Marcus was on time and very friendly. He walked me through everything they were going to do and explained that the shutters were on backorder and would be in later in the week, but he replaced the trim and painted one of the louvers (he needed a longer ladder for the second). He had to return a few times to finish the work, but he made sure it was all completed and the quality is fantastic.
I'm very pleased with my experience with N. Chasen and Son and will definitely hire again when I have need.

"Was given dates 6/15 - 6/19 and the work was completed by 6/17. Everything was done professionally the workers arrived by 8:30 each day and completed their days work by 5, and I am more than satisfied with the quality of the work and the professionalism. If I had any questions they were addressed within a reasonable amount of time. I received my quote for the work by email which was great I paid the first half of the payment up front on that same email, and when the work was complete I received an email and the remainder of the total cost was transacted on that email. " Our favorite idea that was Carol's was to move a casual dining table into the room with the view of the woods and stream to capitalize on the scenic view often from a table we would sit at many times a day. We ended up loving this idea and ordered exactly what she recommended. I liked that she was forth coming with ideas and critiques, but willing to work at the level of not adding tremendous additional expense, but would also suggest spending more if the fix warranted it.
