Customers say: Terrific value

"Jeff did a fantastic job on a very large exterior painting project for us, which included our home, separate garage, deck, dock, and chimney. He was very focused on the details and I was very impressed with his work. I would gladly and eagerly hire him again, and strongly recommend him for your painting project."

"Matt worked hard to get the dishwasher we wanted installed in our existing kitchen. We had another business come out for a quote and they said the project wasn't possible, but Matt did it! We were absolutely thrilled with his professionalism, persistence, and obvious care in his work and will absolutely use him again for future projects."

"Suddenly Color was in a word, awesome! They painted the ENTIRELY interior of our home (minus closets) in 5 days. We had several different paint colors and every room looks fantastic. They were professional, timely, friendly and did an excellent job. When done for the day they cleaned up and put furniture back - it made living in the house so much easier not having to trip over painting supplies and equipment. Would highly recommended them for any painting project.

Wallpapering questions, answered by experts

Having dated, peeling, or otherwise damaged wallpaper can decrease the value of your property, so removing that before listing your house is nearly always a good idea; however, since wallpaper tends to be a personal style choice, potential buyers may or may not love your aesthetic as much as you do.

Love the look of wallpaper but want to consider property value as well? Stick with something that is easy to change. If you are thinking of selling soon, make sure your wallpaper hanging is on-point and looks professional with no crooked seams, evenly matched patterns, and minimal bubbling or other imperfections.

One of the biggest downsides to peel-and-stick wallpaper is that it doesn't last as long as traditional wallpaper. Its lifespan depends on several factors, including the quality of the paper, proper wall preparation and application, and the room's conditions. As a general rule, peel-and-stick wallpaper can last for at least five years, but this can vary significantly. Budget products may only last about 3 years, while higher-quality products can stay up for 7 years or more in ideal conditions. Factors that can shorten its lifespan include high humidity (such as in a bathroom), dirty walls, and low-quality paper. If used on flooring, expect it to last only 1 to 3 years unless sealed. However, the shorter lifespan can be seen as a positive, making it a great choice for people who enjoy switching up their interiors more frequently.

Darker walls may make tight bathrooms appear even smaller, but one dark accent wall can really make a bathroom pop. Wallpaper with a dark background can add intrigue and sophistication. Still, if you’re looking to open the room up and give it a modern, airy feeling, light colors may work best for your needs. Although there are some popular and unpopular opinions, there’s really no “should” when it comes to personal design choice.

While textured walls can elevate a space in many ways, there are a couple of downsides to consider. Namely, they’re hard to clean, and some textures fall out of fashion quickly. Make sure to consider all your options to find one you truly love before diving in.

If you can already see the texture of the existing wallpaper through the layer of paint, then the texture could also come through the new layer of wallpaper. If that’s the aesthetic you want, then proceed. But if you want a smoother surface, you should either strip off the existing paint and wallpaper or hang a layer of liner paper before proceeding.
