The Carpentry and Painting Experts, LLC was founded in 2004. The company is 100% family owned and operated. The owners are George(father) and Alex(son)--both seasoned professionals in the home improvement industry. The business was formed to improve and meet the needs of people in the Richmond Virginia area who are looking for top-quality carpentry or painting services. "Mr. and Mrs. [Member Name Removed], I was very surprised to read your review. Our company finished all contracts we were hired to do at your home. We managed to finish all work in the short time-frame you requested. For the trim painting contract we explained to you and to your husband, that a second coat of paint will be needed. Against our recommendation you decided to proceed with a single coat of paint. We performed a final walk-through with you and you were completely satisfied with the work performed. Our project manager went way far out of his way trying to help you, and he is very upset from the review we got. From the one sentence review written on Angie's List, people may think we abandoned the project, which definitely was not the case. You can see from our reviews that we take pride of the work we do and our customers are very satisfied with the results when they follow our recommendations. I am sorry if the offer text was not written well enough. I will make sure that in the future I check with Angie's list team that the offers are written better to avoid any future miscommunication. A few months later, I have another job for them. Now I cannot get them to give me a reasonable estimate. This one is 4 times what the job would seem to justify. And the estimate is wrong and does not reflect what I asked them to do. (example: they quote 90 pieces of siding without specifying what they mean by pieces (no lengths, no specification of type or material) and this is just for one end of a small house.) So, I asked them to explain, and the only response was "that is my quote." This is totally unacceptable. So, in good faith I asked the office to help me, thinking that maybe language issues were involved. They have a lot of foreign workers from Eastern European countries, and although very nice people, their English is not always perfect.
A few days later, the "supervisor" came to my home, and I gave him the same information I gave the first estimator. Days later, and I have still not heard anything back from them. I think this is very rude and unprofessional. I am trusting these people with my home. The least they can do is be polite.
I think the first job was a "seed" job to get a new client on the hook. Now they think my new job is not something they want to do, so they just walk off and leave me hanging. I would rather to the work myself than have to deal with these problems.
