"This company was so great to work with. Their price was very fair and included a 3 year warranty. My home was an awful mustard yellow. They painted it a beautiful blue and white trim and gutters, and finished in about a week! They power washed the entire home, replaced all deck wood and siding that needed it, and never changed their final estimate. I would highly recommend RVA Pro Painters to anyone needing a painting job!"

"James River Painters(Kevin) painted the exterior of our home and did a wonderful job. He power washed our entire home, performed all carpentry of shutters, garage door, and replaced all bad siding boards. Kevin and his crew were very courteous to me and my neighbors. They explained to me each day what they would be doing and educated me as to why they were doing specific things. Kevin worked around my schedule and well within my budget. Our next project is some interior rooms of our home and I look forward to working with James River Painters again! Thank you, Kevin!"

"Overall I am satisfied with the work that was done in my home.
Ben Meffley the Owner of Sky home improvement came to my home and gave me a better estimate than the previous company. I decided to go to a store to pick out the flooring myself and Ben went out of his way to pick it up for me.
He did a fantastic  job installing the floor, and tried to be considerate in cleaning up any mess left behind.
The floors look wonderful, and I couldn't be happier"

"I was happy enough for their painting job that I hired them with the other stuff. They're fair, honest, and do good work. You just really have to make sure that they understand exactly what I want, then I think I would recommend them to anybody."

Wallpapering questions, answered by experts

Peel-and-stick wallpaper is designed to be removed without damaging walls, making it a good choice for renters or temporary design changes. However, damage to paint or drywall can occur under certain conditions. To prevent issues, the wall surface must be properly prepared before application—it should be clean, smooth, dry, and correctly primed or painted. Applying wallpaper to a freshly painted surface can cause the paint to peel off during removal. Additionally, removing the wallpaper too quickly or aggressively can also cause damage. For best results, always follow the manufacturer's instructions for both application and removal.

While some people are confident in their ability to replace concrete by drilling out the broken pieces and replacing them with bagged concrete, it’s possible to run into snags that make hiring a professional worth it. Trying to level concrete slabs can require special equipment, which can be pricey to rent and tough to operate. It's also crucial to contact your town's municipal office to ensure you are allowed to take on the project without a permit.

If you need a stronger magnetic surface, or you need to use a different type of paint in the room (like waterproof paint in a damp basement), there are other accessible options. You could fit a steel panel over the wall, try magnetic wallpaper, or apply chalk paint instead.

If you want an inexpensive shortcut, hang a pinboard or chalkboard on your wall. These removable options are ideal if you’re a renter who can’t repaint or plan to move in the near future.

Wallpaper lasts an average of around 15 years, but there is some variance. The type of wallpaper matters, as vinyl wallpaper tends to last the longest—sometimes 20 years or more—while a peel-and-stick wallpaper, which is the easiest to install for DIYers, will usually only last for around five years. Exposure to high humidity, smoke, and UV rays from sunlight can also limit the lifespan of your wallpaper, as can heavy traffic in the installation area.

Because replacing pool tiles requires fully draining your pool, it’s a great opportunity to complete other projects. You may want to replace your pool’s vinyl liner or repair cracks. You might also replace your swimming pool heater or even take on the cost of resurfacing your pool. Resurfacing, although relatively costly, can help prolong the lifespan of your pool.
