Rivas Rockwall Co

Avelino Rivas came promptly to give an estimate. Project was scheduled and I had to call and postpone due to finances. Avelino was fine with rescheduling and promptly started a week ago February 7, 2014. The job was completed this afternoon February 14, 2014. The damage was fixed professionally and small rock walls were built half way around each pole to keep the large and small rail road tie walls secure "forever". It is beautiful and secure. Very professional, on time, finished in a timely manner, cleaned up after the job was completed. Wonderful company, asked for 2 more project estimates. Will recommend this company to everyone needing a rock wall constructed

Almost two years ago this company replaced my whole roof which had been hail damaged, repaired the ceiling in my office which had been leaking, and worked on leaking gutters. We had three separate leaking areas with the first big rain after the roof replacement. These three areas had been sources of leaks prior to the new roof and even dating back to a roof put on in 1990. Luckily, only the leak in the garage created a stain and ruined the ceiling inside a closet. CSS was informed immediately and sent people out to fix the leaking places with additional material we suggested from our prior experience and those areas do not leak anymore. However, I did not want to rush to repair the garage and closet until I had time to be here. CSS came back last month, fixed the job for NO COST on my part and fixed the wallboard between my garage door for the $150 charge listed above. The company is very professional, their workpeople clean up their messes and put my garage in order without any input on my part. I'm very impressed!

This did not go well. When they came out they were professional and seemed to pay attention but they did not seem to be as thorough as we had hoped. We discussed the water leaking issue and my husband was quite surprised to find that they did not try water testing at all to determine where the water was coming in from. There has been a good bit of concern over whether this is coming in under the walls or from the roof. They did not look at the roof at all, but instead quickly determined it was the base of the walls and quoted a course of action for the repair and stated that we would receive the details in an email. Next we moved into the house and looked at the master bathroom windows, both the loose glass block window and the broken framed clear glass window. I mentioned the vent light and heard a somewhat dismissive, "yeah we can do that." Lastly we moved onto the kitchen where I asked them about whether or not we could remove the one wall. It is a load bearing wall so we need to have this done professionally. The kitchen is clearly in the middle of a remodel with no flooring down and most of the cabinets stacked on one wall. I stated that we are in the process of putting in the new tile floors but wanted to find out about removing the wall just to see if it is possible economically. They began measuring the kitchen walls but I was talking with one of the other members of this company and just assumed this had something to do with what would have to be done to brace the load bearing wall once it was removed. Anyway, the information we received back made it clear that very little I said was actually heard. For some absolutely bizarre reason, I received a quote to remodel our cabinets and counter tops with the same type of laminate that is on them now. Why would we do that??? And, nothing about the windows in the master bathroom, nothing about the vent light and nothing about removing the wall and nothing about the WATER LEAKS which is why I called them in the first place! The email I received this morning, made it clear that I will need to find another contractor. To me; The drainage system was going to be $2500, which we discussed that day. This includes: labor and material. CSS will dig a trench along the left side of the house and along the front of home where the water keeps seeping in. CSS will apply biqueen along home down to trench, which makes a moisture barrier. The window in your bathroom is $575 for material and labor. Please let me know which other window your referring to because that day only one was pointed out. An exhaust fan would cost $750, which includes electrical, roof penetration and exhaust fan. I hope this clears things up. My dad had sent the estimate to you. Sincerely, My response: After running water along the roofline and along the base of the house, it has been determined that it's not coming from the base of the house so this will be something we'll take care of when we redo the landscaping layout, but won't be part of the water solution at present. I'm still confused as to how we ended up with a kitchen remodel estimate at all, but I appreciate the numbers below. No further information will be needed. Thank you

"They called me back and we setup an appt. for the following week for them to come out and take a look at what I had. When they arrived, they said they didn't know I wanted to refurbish my cabinets and were expecting to give me a quote to replace them. I really didn't understand as I did mention I didn't want to spend the higher cost of replacing them on the initial call, but nonetheless, we setup another appt. a week later to have someone else they work with from Juarez come out and take a look at them. When the rep. from their affiliate in Juarez came out a week later, he performed measurements and showed examples of his work. They said they would get back to me with an estimate. A week or so later, CSS called me back and wanted to send another person out to take a look and measure. At this point, I told them I was going with someone else. Seemed to be somewhat disorganized and not understanding what I was really looking for, but all they reps. were very personable.

<br /> Member update: I have to disagree that I was not clear in my initial phone call. I specifically stated the owner of the home, my friend, wanted re-facing or re-furbishing as he already had quotes elsewhere for new cabinets and he did not want to spend that much money. Cabinet re-facing/re-furbishing was the listing I searched under Angie's List, and CSS Construction was displayed under this category. I agree I was not there during your first appt. with my friend, but I was there the second time when you accompanied your sub-contractor from Juarez. Lastly, requesting the second appt. after going thru one already just seemed to us to be a waste of time. I am sorry, but I stand by what I wrote.
