We are a small construction company, providing services to individuals and businesses. Collectively, we come with a broad experience base. We are professional, responsible and insured!

"6 out of 5 Stars!! We wanted a complete gut kitchen remodel and an addition built on to our house. We decided in 2020 that we would "interview" McCarty Customized with a bathroom remodel. We were so happy with the finished product that we decided to remodel our second bathroom too. Since we were introduced to McCarty Customized in 2020, they have remodeled 2 bathrooms, drywalled walls and ceiling of the entire 2nd floor, complete gut kitchen remodel, tear-down of an existing screened-in porch, complete build of 400 square foot addition, installed LVP flooring throughout the entire 1st floor, new roof, new gutters and siding, and I'm sure I'm forgetting about something. There is no part of our home that they haven't touched. I could not be happier with this company. They are incredibly responsive, which is not easy to come by in this industry. Their work product has been excellent. Every person that we have dealt with has been kind and respectful. Work was completed on schedule. Any hiccups (and every major construction project will have some) were handled very well. They genuinely care that the finished work product is up to both their and our standards. McCarty Customized with be our Go-To for any future construction projects. And we tell everyone who will listen, that if you are having a construction project in the Columbus area, McCarty Customized should be your first call. Thanks guys!"

fine cuts carpentry & construction llc is a one man business started in 2015. my name is brandon saum i have 6 years of construction based back round. i have recently been involved in remodeling a building (built in 1875 )owned by THE WOOD COMPANY . this building was demoed down to the masonry and floors everything else was completely rebuilt. leafy dale is the name of the building located in the short north. i took part in every construction detail required to pass the buildings weekly inspections. i took the foreman position for Superior finishes (lead contractor on the job)during this time of remodel. throughout my experience in life i found myself leaning towards my own business and future so here i am! i may not be the biggest company out there but 100% focused on pride and quality.

"As we have stated above, Brandon and his crew did an excellent job. We wouldn’t call anyone else. His honesty and love of the work are his strongest gifts."

Concrete Leveling questions, answered by experts

Concrete should be at least 4 inches thick for steps. This thickness boosts stability and prevents cracking and deterioration. After you’ve built your forms out of wood, fill the void with a sand or gravel base for concrete. Use an all-purpose concrete mix to form your steps. After pouring your concrete steps, be sure to screed and float the concrete.

Placing either a layer of mixed-size gravel or a paver base under your crushed concrete driveway is a good idea. The smaller pieces will compress and prevent the larger pieces of concrete from driving into the soil below, helping to avoid sinking over time under the weight of vehicles. For added protection from sinking and weeks, you can also install a heavy-duty weed liner beneath the gravel or paver base. Just be sure to use a permeable material to avoid drainage problems.

There isn't a winner when comparing expanding foam versus concrete for fence posts. Both have benefits and drawbacks, depending on your budget and priorities. Expanding foam may be a better choice if you want a more eco-friendly solution that cures faster. Concrete is more affordable and durable than expanding foam, yet it is harder to work with and takes longer to cure.

It is not advisable to pour concrete directly on dirt. Even compacted soil—known as a subgrade—is not strong enough to maintain the form of concrete. You can, however, pour concrete over concrete as long as the overlay has proper bonding agents and the slab below is clear of damage.

The best time to pour concrete is mid-afternoon when temperatures often sit between 50 and 60 degrees, and you don’t expect rain for at least 24 to 48 hours. Avoiding direct sunlight in the peak afternoon hours can help reduce the risk of curing too quickly, as can avoiding pouring on hot summer days. Colder temperatures and rain can lead to slower curing times and weaken the concrete. If in doubt, especially if your concrete will provide structural stability, hire a contractor to determine the best time to pour.
