Very well! Not only did they complete the tasks given, but they answered questions about possible future projects.

True Building Performance

True Building Performance did a great job. First, the energy audit helped us understand the different areas to pay attention to in order to have the most efficient home. After the audit, we decided to hire them to redo our insulation as it quite poor. They did a great job and even though they did it in early spring, the difference is already noticeable. The crew was friendly and quick. They accomplished the job on the original timeline given to us and were unconcerned if we were home while doing the work or not

DAVID SELLERS MECHANICAL

TL:DR - If you're looking for top-notch work and peace of mind, look no further. Long Version: My husband and I purchased our home in late 2018. It came equipped with a whole house (3500 sqft) micro-zoned radiant heating system. 16 loops, each controlled from a different thermostat. The tankless heater that provided heat to the system also preheated our domestic hot water. Our heater was an Italian-made product (Cosmogas) that was installed in 2005, and, at the time, sold by Capital District Supply. In the 2 years that we've lived here, it was clear this thing was going to give us trouble. A leaking mixing valve - leading to three service calls to different plumbing/hvac companies in town (Saratoga Springs) - resulted in hundreds of dollars spent on a clearly failing machine. I was billed for service calls even when no work was completed. Two other plumbing/hvac companies even told me they'd prefer to not take the job. After the last failed service call (a plumber replaced the mixing valve with the part I had already ordered and had on hand), we ended up with antifreeze from the heating system in our domestic hot water. We were at our wits end. I came across David Sellers Mechanical through an exhaustive Google search for hydronic heating experts in the tri-state area. I called and spoke with Rebekah, David's wife. I can't say enough about how empathetic, understanding and professional Rebekah is. David speaks highly of the work she has put into filling their website (davidsellers.com) with consumer protection information, and if you look for yourself, you'll see what I mean. I've never seen anything like it. It is pretty clear that this business is ethically sound. Rebekah told me David was out on his motorcycle but she would pass along my message. Not 10 minutes later, David called me from the road, and an hour after that, he was at my home. He listened to the long history of our issues, and walked through the system with me. By the end of his visit, he gave me a quote for replacing the tankless heater and getting our system running again. He also told me he could start work on it in less than a week. The following day, David sent me his contract. I responded with another request - to replace the electric hot water tank as well. He was able to agree to do so without changing the quoted/contracted price. This alone amazed me. Fast forward to later in the week. David and his colleague Kevin spent two full days removing the old equipment and installing a top-of-the-line, American-made (Lochinvar) combi-boiler and (Bradford White) electric water heater. The work they completed is impeccable. Every joint, every run of copper, every valve is installed with the precision and neatness of a true master of the trade. They left the area cleaner than they found it, and never hesitated to explain exactly how and why they were doing what they did. The bottom line is this: if you want the skill and craftsmanship of a master mechanic, you have to be happy to pay...not for the hours they spend physically completing the work, but for the many years they spent perfecting their skills. If I had to do this all again, I would have had David attack the problem from the start rather than throwing money at lesser technicians

Went well. Crew was very courteous and respectful. They had to stop back to address a couple issues which they did a few weeks later. Pete the owner is a man of his word. Easy to work with.

This was the first time I had hired Affordable Energy; they came highly recommended by George Griffin at Bennett Contracting www.bennettcontracting.com, who had replaced my windows some years ago. Pete was on time and reassuringly thorough. His workmen were professional and focused on the job. I will definitely hire them again to increase the energy efficiency of my home

The whole process was long, but the audit process was done in one day and overall very informative. He came and spent 5 hours going through all the areas of the house looking for energy savings opportunities. He collected the data and did the analysis with computer software. after the contractors finished, Dan came back to perform the second audit. He then filed all the paperwork to the State of NY so we can redeem the 10% cash back

Ethos Homes LLC

Very well for the most part. The owner was very friendly, professional and punctual. I was notified timely of any changes to the schedule and worked with me to obtain financing through NYSERDA (though it was not used). I also appreciated the owner agreeing to add additional small jobs to the contract. I was pleased with how things were going (the sub-contractors were timely and cleaned up after themselves). There was one exception, the final sub-contractor. The painter was initially professional, but I was later disappointed in his behavior (once he balked at available times to work and said I could leave my key like [others], when I was not pleased with him washing paint brushes in the main bathroom, of my 1 and 1/2 bath home, I was told he left it cleaner than he met it, on the final day of painting he called at the exact time he was supposed to arrive to say he had a flat tire (coincidence? perhaps), and showed up almost an hour later with the owner of Ethos Homes. I would definitely recommend using Ethos Homes LLC, despite the behavior of one sub-contractor. The owner is very professional and the work is done well

If I could give this company an A+ I would. I apologize for the very long review, but this level of service and professionalism deserves description. Feel free to skip to the last paragraph if you're pressed for time. I initially contacted Peter Collisson to investigate a problem with ice damming in my home in late 2013. He returned my email promptly and arranged to meet me in short order. He determined that the problem was likely related to inadequate attic insulation and suggested installing open cell foam insulation. Because the front slope of my roof was located over a vaulted ceiling and this area was inaccessible, he warned me that the foam might not completely resolve the problem. I elected to proceed and not to remove the existing fiberglass due to cost. The installation went smoothly. However, after the initial "off-gassing" of the foam should have resolved, I experienced a persistent unpleasant odor in my living space any time the windows were open, particularly on hot, sunny days. Since my attic is small and unventilated, I assumed it would probably take a while for the odor to air out. It improved slightly, but not much, over the next couple of years, resolving only during the cold winter months. I finally couldn't stand it anymore and contacted Pete, fully expecting him to tell me it had been too long since the installation and I should have called sooner. To my surprise, he contacted me immediately, quickly came to assess the situation and determined that the best immediate course of action was to seal any openings between the living space and the attic. His colleague, Scott, sealed the gaps around the junction boxes, vent ducts, etc. When the odor improved only minimally, Scott promptly returned and double-checked the seals, found a couple of small gaps and closed them. When some of the foam leaked into one of my ceiling fans, he spent a considerable amount of time cleaning it out. When I call him back because the fan was making a loud tapping noise, he returned, took the fan apart, scraped out all the hardened foam, and reassembled the fan (which looks and works like new, by the way). All the while he was unfailingly pleasant and professional. Unfortunately, the odor persisted. By this time I had become quite sick with an unrelated illness and it was another year or so before I was able to return to work and again contact Pete about the odor. Again, he called me immediately, set up an appointment right away, and arranged for his crew to come the next day to remove all the fiberglass insulation, which he suspected was the source of the odor, at no charge to me. His crew was personable, professional, polite and thorough. While they were removing the fiberglass they found an area behind it along the soffits that had been missed during the initial foam installation and they now plan to return in the next couple of days to install it. If they hadn't been honest and pointed it out to me, I would never have known about it (they were well aware of my pathological fear of attics). I never review a company until my business is absolutely completed, but Peter Collisson and his crew have so exceeded my expectations to date that I couldn't see any reason to delay. Their professionalism, honesty and willingness to stand behind their work and please a customer is truly rare and refreshing. If you ever need any services that fall within the expertise of this company and have the opportunity to work with them, I strongly suggest that you take it

From the energy audit to the final clean up the job went as smooth as could be. Timely (you could set your clock to their arrival), totally professional, and extremely informative. Explained everything as they went along. There was one small hiccup that occurred which they jumped on to remedy it. We were impressed. In the spring of 2012 we called them back to do more work, which was to zone the central AC. They were not the cheapest, BUT, they worked with NYSERDA to get us a $5000. allowance plus did all the paper work. Even though they were about $1200. more than everybody else the $5000. certainly brought us out ahead. We will sing their praises all day long

Very well! I was extremely please with not only Pete Collison but also the two others he sent over as well. From estimate to completion the process was very smooth. They were very courteous and clean. I feel the work was done very well. Also, the price quoted on the estimate was what he charge even though there was some confusion as to whether the crawl space was in the original estimate. It turned out it wasn't, however he only charged us the estimate price. Very kind of him. Also he was sweet when I flubbed the check the first time! Thank you very much and see you next year for our next big project

"House was built in 1890, 2800 SF, 3 bed room 2 bath and heating and cooling it was a struggle. I had enough, enough of wasting my money on fuel(350 gallons + a month), pellets (2 pellet stoves), and trying to keep the thermostat set on 78-80 degrees in hopes it would be 64 degrees upstairs where my kids, and newborn sleep. I entered all my information into Home Advisor(Angi) and I found Mark Reed and his company on this website. I then read all the reviews this company had, then read the reviews on the other companies the website recommended. I found that Mark and his crew were best suited for the undertaking that was about to take place in my home. Mark and his son Gary met me at my house within a couple days and we spent 3 hours walking my home, studying the problems and climbing in the attic. I received a quote from Mark in person and I asked them to start as soon as possible. The crew was great, kept a clean work space and understanding about all my concerns of them working in the house at the same time my family and I were living there. The project took over 2 weeks to complete, and as the project was nearing the end I could feel the changes almost immediately. I could walk up the stairs and it was the same temp though out the house, even though it was 20 degrees outside. All my thermal barriers were met, and exceeded. Out with all the old insulation(and much more), and in with all new blown-in -R60! The crew exceeded my expectations, and Mark was there on and off checking in. While I was at work, I received pictures and updates throughout the day and the communication was nice. Even with the crews in my house working for the month of February I burned over 90 less gallons of fuel at month. That was with over a week and half of no insulation in the attic at all, holes in my walls, a hole in my gable end for access, crew guys in and out all day, and outside temperatures between 12*-31* degrees. I would contract with The Climate Chief again. I hope this helps the next person looking to save money long term, and I hope everyone has the same blessed experience that my family and I had as well.

"Outstanding! From initial phone call at 5:30PM to power restored took about four hours. The electricians arriving on this job were the right electricians for this job. I was not concerned about price because I expect to be reimbursed by NG, but I think that the price was reasonable considering that it was an emergency call on off hours, responsiveness, efficiency, and professionalism.

"I called, left a message (since it was after hours). I got a call back within half an hour. They dispatched someone who showed up within an hour and fixed the A/C (capacitor was blown). We were happy to have it work again as the weekend was supposed to be a record temperature wise. I have been a customer for several years, had furnace and hot water heater installed by them and get regular service for furnace and A/C. Always great service. I highly recommend the company.
