While one random flush every now and then might not seem like a big deal, leaving it unattended can lead to bigger problems. 

Whether or not a power-flush toilet is worth it depends on your toilet needs and your budget. If your bathroom sees a lot of use or you’re concerned about the toilet clogging, then a power-flush toilet may be the right choice. You should also check the pressure requirements to make sure your system can handle the necessary requirements. 

Most toilets have a 12-inch rough-in or hole, but some have 10- or 14-inch holes, which means that not all toilets fit all setups. Knowing how to measure the rough-in is essential, so you purchase a toilet that fits the existing drain hole. It can be costly to have the rough-in moved, and most stores don’t accept toilet returns.

Toilet handles can get stuck for a couple of reasons, but it’s commonly an issue with the chain. Remove the lid and check the chain’s connection, running from the flapper to the handle arm. Sometimes the chain gets snagged on or against another part of the tank. 

The chain might not have the right tension. For example, a chain that’s too short can make the handle feel stuck. Check that there’s some slack in the chain. Old, worn-out flappers can get stuck, too. In this case, you’ll need to see which size toilet flapper you need.

Recaulk your toilet at least every five years. If you feel like your toilet is getting wobbly before that, it still might be time for a new caulking. Never directly place new caulk over existing caulk because that doesn’t produce lasting results. Also, caulking over existing moldy caulk does not kill out the mold by suffocating it, so if you have mold, be sure to get rid of it before recaulking.
