"Kevin called promptly, explained his services, gave me an estimate, scheduled promptly (within the same week). Called the day before to confirm appt. Called early morning of appt to tell us he was on his way. Once he arrived, he was very cordial, explaining what he was doing every step of the way. Answered all our questions/concerns. Proceeded to complete the cleaning quickly and efficiently, inside the house and also up on roof to inspect and re-seal the outside portion of chimney. Took approx. 2 hrs. He cleaned up all his tools and equipment and when he left, we had a sparkling clean wood stove and chimney---ready for winter. Highly recommend this young man for all your chimney needs."

Yes, you can limewash surfaces other than brick. Plaster, stone, stucco, and concrete can all also be limewashed. Any porous surface that will absorb the wash is a good candidate for limewash, although it won’t help much with waterproofing. If you choose to limewash over paint, you’ll need to prep before applying it to avoid a powdery, chalky finish. If you’re deciding between limewash versus whitewash, know that both have a chalky matte appearance. Whitewash has fewer options for color customization, and it sits on surfaces instead of being absorbed into them, which can trap moisture. Whitewashing costs less—about $1.40 to $4.20 per square foot.

You should use an angled brush to first paint the mortar lines, then go in with a high-density roller to evenly paint the bricks one at a time. You can also use a flat paintbrush to paint individual bricks, but a roller is faster and easier to use thanks to its longer handle and wider surface area for coating the bricks. To finish, go in with the paint brush for edges or hard-to-reach areas.
