"Alex was efficient, professional and friendly and arrived as soon as he could get here. We were having sewer trouble and he stayed to see that the problem was fixed and we were no longer having problems with the sewer, even though it was after dark before he packed up his tools. "The contractor did a top rate job on the ceramic tile and caroetibg. The subfloor replacement was ok except Steves floorings subcontractor managed to somehow get the subfloor elevation off on one side and the kitchen countertop had to be shimmed to hide this defect. After the kitchen cabinets were installed the existing door pulls were not installed . Steves flooring had to be constantly reminded to pick up construction debris.

"What a great find. Randy had incredible experience and it showed in the fantastic way he layed out our special project. Diamond patterned granite with stainless steel inlays and it turned out great. Please check his web site soon for pics. He was very reasonable on price and the quality was excellent to every detail. First class, clean and on time. "Once I sent her all the measurements, it took her a little while to get the options back to me.  Overall, they're good designs.  However, they're very simplistic and give general ideas for space planning.  I was hoping to have a better idea for sizes of furniture for the space and some variations on staging.  
Jill was very responsive when I did have a question.  I'm not sure how helpful it is to have a virtual design done.  If we lived in similar cities, I'd probably use her again for help with additional designs.

Fiber cement backboards are the most common choice, but using plywood is also possible. Don’t neglect this step, or you could risk water damage and grout or tiles prematurely cracking or crumbling, especially in an area with high foot traffic. 

Altering the layout of your bathroom will make a big difference as moving or adding plumbing quickly inflates your total bill. While you can recoup more of your cost (in home value terms) by adding a bathroom, rearranging the layout won’t affect your home’s sticker value. However, strategic placements that allow more light or better flow may increase buyer interest.

Grout and caulk are commonly used together, especially in bathrooms. Grout goes between the tiles and keeps them sturdy and in place on the walls or floor. Caulk goes in corners or where two different materials meet (like where the bathtub meets the tile) to create a waterproof seal. However, they are not interchangeable—you shouldn't use caulk to adhere tile and shouldn’t use mortar if you need a waterproof seal.

When working on your bathroom floor tiling, you should always tile the floor first and then refit the toilet afterward. This has both practical and visual advantages—the tile will have a better seal, and the installation will look cleaner.

It’s best to start with tiling the shower floor before moving on to the walls for the most visually-pleasing results. When taking on any tiling project, you’ll want the wall tiles to “sit” neatly on the floor tiles rather than overlapping them. Finishing your floor tiles first will allow you to place your wall tiles without any gaps, holes, or awkward intersections.
