"Would not recommend. They took two measurements two different times and still got the measurements wrong. They told me it would be an express order and it has been nearly 3 weeks. The original quote about 7 weeks ago told us it would take 2.5 to 3 weeks from the factory on a regular order. Why has it been so long? Why do we feel like the guinea pigs for a company that has supposedly been in business for years? Then they tell us they're backed up.... is it cuz they're too busy fixing all the mistakes??? They did give us half off but after all this I wouldn't of wanted to pay the rest, honestly."

Wood siding requires that air can circulate behind it and that water can drain away if necessary. Your home needs a water-restrictive barrier underneath furring strips to achieve the air and water gap.

Mildew grows into porous wood, making it more difficult to remove than regular dirt (and more destructive). Many people remove aluminum siding to get to the wood underneath, allowing them to paint, stain, or finish the wood to give the home a brand-new aesthetic. With that in mind, you find plywood and related types of wood underneath aluminum siding, but you also run into fiber cement board, strand board, and a diverse array of other building materials. It depends on the original design of the house. 

The best types of siding to withstand hail are fiber cement siding and engineered wood siding. Fiber cement siding is known for impact resistance, while some brands of engineered wood siding can withstand hail as big as 1 and 3/4 inches with no marks. Vinyl and aluminum siding are the most susceptible to hail.
