We are family owned and operated and have been serving Charleston for 60 years. We have our own installers who average 31 years experience. We sell and install carpet, hardwood, ceramic, porcelain, vinyl tile and more.

"I ordered $7,000 worth of hardwood floors for a rehab that my company was doing. When the wood came in, it was defective (holes, rough spots and cracks). I immediately notified Andrews and the owners were VERY difficult. They came to the house to view the wood, they agreed to take it back. At first she wanted to charge me a 20% restocking fee and then stated that she did not have the money to refund me. I agreed to wait until 1/15 (3 weeks) for my money in exchange of the delivery fee being waived. On 1/11 I received a receipt where they had refunded the amount owed -$600. She added a credit card swipe fee ($460) and a deliver fee ($139 which we agreed would be waived since she didn't have the money to pay me immediately). In all, they refused to refund $600 of my money. I guess I was supposed to pay them for selling me defective wood. I am having to sue them to get the remainder of my money."

You can expect your carpet protection to last about six months to two years. It will last longer in low-traffic areas (compared to busy areas, where your carpet experiences more wear and tear). Once the protector wears off, you’ll need to call your carpet contractor to reapply the stain protection treatment and revive your carpet. 

While some carpet repair kits exist and only cost around $15, they are not usually appropriate for Berber repair. Typically, they include small pieces of fibers to use as patches, and Berber carpets are typically colored very differently from other kinds of carpets. This is why it is imperative to try and locate a spare piece of carpet from your original installation when you need to patch up an area.

In addition, the tools these kits include are often watered-down versions of the ones you can buy individually from your local hardware store (e.g., the glue in the kit will not be as strong as your hot glue gun or the double-sided carpet tape).

Generally speaking, restretch your carpets once every five years, though this timeframe depends on a number of factors, such as the level of foot traffic in the area. If the carpet looks wrinkled and there are loosened areas on the floor, go for the restretch. If everything looks and feels fine, you are good.

Your room doesn’t need to be completely empty to restretch a carpet, but you’ll need enough space that you can move around furniture to access the wrinkled areas and the wall where you’re reattaching the carpet. A contractor will move your furniture out of the way before they start the job, but you can save money by moving your furniture before they arrive.

The best solvent for removing carpet glue depends on its chemical composition. Most carpet glue reacts well to a solvent made from orange oil. Use mineral spirits to remove tar-based glue, which has a darker, brownish tint. Methylene chloride paint stripper and lacquer thinner should also work, but beware of the nasty and dangerous fumes.
