"This crew worked really hard. We had two trees removed that we were concerned may eventually fall on our neighbors home, these were huge trees. The work took about a week and the crew cut, chipped and hauled off debris. Even worked while it rained! Our neighbor had one taken out as well while the crew was here. I would most definitely recommend this company to anyone in need of tree removal."

"I had a great experience with this company. They responded quickly and did an excellent job removing a fallen tree that was blocking part of my property. The price was more than reasonable, and the employees were very friendly. I will definitely hire them again."

"They came that evening and looked at our job and gave us a very reasonable quote. The other tree services did not bother getting back in touch. We called them back the next day and setup a time for the job to be done. They were at our home promptly at 7:00 , cut 4 trees down , stacked the wood and cleaned up and were finished in 2 1/2 hours! They were very good and knew their job! Our four trees were threats to our home . They brought them down with no damage to our property! We would highly recommend this crew of 4 guys to anyone! We will definitely use them again!"

Arborists questions, answered by experts

In Charleston, tree removal or significant tree trimming often requires a permit from the Charleston Planning Department, especially for trees within city rights-of-way or those protected by local ordinances. You may also need approval from the Urban Forestry Division and, if the work is near power lines, coordination with Appalachian Power. Always verify requirements with both city officials and your neighborhood association before starting any tree service project.

Helpful?

Homeowners in Charleston often underestimate the complexity of tree cutting or removal, leading to safety hazards or property damage. Common mistakes include neglecting to obtain required permits from the Charleston Planning Department, hiring uninsured or unlicensed contractors, and pruning at improper times, which can harm tree health. Consulting with certified arborists and verifying local regulations helps prevent costly errors and ensures compliance.

Helpful?

For tree service in Charleston, ensure professionals follow OSHA safety standards, use personal protective equipment like helmets, gloves, and harnesses, and are trained for work near electrical lines. Confirm that the contractor coordinates with Appalachian Power when working close to utilities. Insist on proof of insurance and proper licensing, and never attempt tree removal or tree trimming on large trees without expert help.

Helpful?

Charleston's humid climate and frequent storms make regular tree inspections and proactive trimming essential for safety and tree health. Certain species, like red oak and sugar maple, may require specialized care. The Urban Forestry Division can provide guidance on local tree ordinances and best practices. Scheduling tree service during winter can minimize disruption, while monitoring for pests and diseases is crucial year-round.

Helpful?

In Charleston, unexpected expenses during tree removal or tree trimming can include permit application fees, charges for coordinating with the Urban Forestry Division, and additional costs for stump grinding or hauling away debris. If protected species are involved, extra steps may be required. Always request a written, itemized estimate and clarify if post-service cleanup and restoration are included to avoid surprises.
