"I hired this contractor to re-glaze my tub and shower tiles. There was a team of two workers that showed up for the job. I paid the company in full during the first visit. After they completed the work on day 1, there were small visible specks of paint all throughout the wall tiles. The contractor blamed the paint itself and said they couldn’t do anything until the paint dried. They also did not cover my bathroom walls before they began using chemicals to clean the tiles which resulted in layers of paint being stripped off where the tiles meet the painted wall. When they came back on the second visit to address these issues, the wall they repainted is not the same gloss/finish as the rest of the tub/shower. The caulking around the base of the tub was messy. They also missed painting a section of tile which is now a different color from the rest of the finish. I have to say, I knew I was in trouble when I saw one of the contractors on the first day using toilet water to rinse the chemicals off the shower tiles. I had to ask him to please use the tub or sink for water. I am now waiting for this contractor to call me back to schedule to complete this job. They stopped contacting me once the check cleared, so I have been initiating most of the calls. On my last call they mentioned they have other jobs scheduled and would see if they could fit me in. I will update this review if the issues are resolved."

"Extremely disappointed with this company. They do not stand by their guarantees. Did install shower in one day. Was not provided with the shower head I ordered. Calking and trim work was very sloppy. Went through the shower wall into my bedroom, did sparkle wall and left it. Shower doors have leaked and was finally told six months later that there is nothing they can do to correct the issue. Originally quoted $24,000.00 for the walk on shower, eventually agreed to $11,500.00. Completely dissatisfied with my shower. Once they get their payment, they are done."

Bathtub Restoration questions, answered by experts

Two alternatives to reglazing are installing a bathtub inlay or a bathtub liner. An inlay is a low-priced mat that adheres to the bottom of a bathtub or shower. It’s useful for sealing minor leaks and concealing damage on the bottom of a tub. On the other hand, a bathtub liner is essentially a protective casing that goes over the entire tub. They are usually custom-fit and cost more than reglazing yet don’t last as long.

Rust in your bathtub occurs when iron in the water or on metal components in your tub are exposed to oxygen, but while it’s unsightly, it won’t make bathing dangerous. However, if the rust appears under or around your tub spout or shower head, it could indicate that you have high levels of iron in your water. Drinking water with small amounts of iron in it usually doesn’t pose a health risk, but you might want to consider installing a water softener. The presence of iron could indicate that you have hard water, which can create some plumbing issues.

Most homeowners need to wait at least two days, sometimes three, to use their bathtub following the reglazing process. That’s the normal length of time it takes for epoxy resin to cure. There are quick-dry epoxy kits available that cure in 12 hours, though. To ensure that the epoxy dries properly, try to ventilate the bathroom as well as you can.

The cost to refinish a bathtub is $490 for most homeowners. However, this cost can range from $200 to $1,000 or more, depending on your tub's material and condition.

For example, enamel and cast-iron bathtubs are pretty straightforward to refinish, costing between $350 and $600. However, if you have an antique claw-foot tub, you can expect to pay between $500 and $1,200 for refinishing costs due to the care and complexity needed.

Bathtub refinishing costs an average of $460 and includes removing the finish, sanding or acid etching the surface, priming it, and applying an epoxy coating. After the coating cures, the bathtub should look as good as new, and the finish should last between seven and 10 years. Because bathtub refinishing requires hazardous chemicals, you should call a bathtub refinisher to do the job.
