They must post their own positive reviews. They took my $65.00 fee and did nothing"

Hail damage is bad for a roof because it can leave the roof vulnerable to the elements. Hail may leave more than dents or scratches behind. It can actually cause the shingles to crack, which means water can leak into your home from the roof. Hail can also wear down the granules on the shingles. Without these granules, the shingles are weaker and more vulnerable to the elements, particularly wind. If the hailstorm is accompanied by high winds, it may take your shingles with it.

In most cases, below 40 degrees Fahrenheit is too cold to replace a roof. The cold affects the shingles, making it more difficult to adhere them to your roof. It also becomes dangerous for contractors to get up on your roof in the cold weather, as there can be ice and slush causing surfaces to become slippery.

The most common slope range for roofs on houses in snowy areas is between 4/12 and 6/12, or 50%. A roof with a slope of less than 10%, or roughly a 2/12 pitch, won’t be effective at shedding snow. However, roofs that are too steep can allow large amounts of snow to build up and fall all at once, creating a hazard for those on the ground.

Ideally, you shouldn’t pay your roofer upfront unless you’re special-ordering materials. However, anything between 10% and 15% of the project’s cost is reasonable to pay upfront. Avoid making a final payment until after the roof gets completed.
